I have been searching for Ben and Jerrys new ice cream flavor Shweddy Balls. I cannot find it anywhere! During my family trip to Kroger today I asked the Kroger employee who was stocking the ice cream about the availability of the new Ben and Jerrys ice cream Shweddy Balls. She informed me that the store recieved an email from corporate to not stock the ice cream, even if it arrives at the store!! WHAT??? Are you kidding me? Because a couple of housewives who have nothing better to do than boycott an ice cream flavor because of its silly name! I am completely dissapointed in Kroger for following in this ridiculous boycott....... OF AN ICE CREAM!!!! Really Kroger, dont you realize that all the contraversy is causing more interest which would result in more sales at your store. Its a name for goodness sakes nothing racial, sexual or degrating, yet corporate is acting as if the ice cream name is hurting someone. Its named after a character on SNL who makes his own rum balls recipe for the holiday. People are concerned about their kids saying the same or asking about it. Seriously parents you cant tell your kids it a name of a recipe. I am so irritated with people trying to make everything so over the top and threaten with boycotts etc. Why are people trying to make everyone more sensative when the world is getting more tougher and cruel everyday. Thanks Kroger for being part of the pansy parade. You know what, I find the name Kroger offensive so I am boycotting YOUR STORES! Im sure there are other grocery stores that have the "Balls" to sell an ice cream that has gotten serious attention for its name! Wow how lame!
Stop being idiots and sell ice cream. If I want anyone to parent my grocery decisions I'll move to a third world country.

I just saw Alec Baldwin on SNL last weekend. He addressed the fact that some stores are caving to the uptight moms who don't like the name of the ice cream. He said that B&J has come out with a new flavor just for those women. The flavor is called "Go Fudge Yourself." bwahahahahaha!

but... in all honesty, i feel bad for the grocery store.
They're just trying to earn a living... and it's not their fault people are fighting with each other over this.
cos now they have to decide...
do we piss off the people who want to eat shweddy balls
or do we piss off the people who are offended?
down here ... it's kinda a bible belt, so i can see kroger voting to keep it off the shelf. seriously i think for every bar there's like 5 churches... if not more.
and in cases like that you'd rather piss off the one or two shoppers instead of pissing off MOST of them....
Still i hope the OP gets a good taste of shweddy balls.
Can you order it straight from BJ?

So you'd have to pay for it to come packed in dry ice or something.

I also kinda think you shot yourself in the foot to stoop to the level of the "bored housewives" by ranting and making threats (sarcastic or not).
But to your concern, NO, stores like Kroger (or Giant Eagle, WalMart or Target, etc.) really shouldn't capitulate to the demands of the loudest few, but they are truly walking a fine line. While those who are complaining are most likely in the minority with their beliefs, they can make enough noise and rabblerouse enough of the fencesitters that it creates a problem. No company wants a PR headache like that!
Sadly, it won't be until one of these "well intentioned" folks gets something they care about taken away before they finally come to understand that the door of freedom swings both ways. You can't demand your beliefs be upheld while trampling that of others.
& just remember, vigilante parenting is what made Tipper Gore famous and got her hubby a primo (albeit 2nd) chair in the White House.
