Been on Ebay for about 10 years...

This evening I received a message out of the blue stating, "Your account was limited because we found a pattern in the number or dollar value of eBay Buyer Protection cases you've opened, because buying policies were broken, or because of other factors."

I had last spoken to the trust team a few months ago after I received a warning. At that point the representative explained that it was due to the high amount of cases opened against sellers.

I vowed at that point to stop opening cases and directly communicate. Since then, no cases have been opened and communication I believe is at an all time high.

This letter came as a surprise, so I called in as soon as I got it. I reached the same trust an security team that I spoke to before, but this time I got a particularly arrogant gentleman.

I mentioned to him that this letter was very broad and I would like more specifics as to why this happened. He put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and interpenetrated the message saying that there was a high amount of cases, negative feedback, and refunds on my account. I apologized as this was all news to me, and caught me off guard. I again informed him how broad this was and was looking for something more specific so I could know what NOT to do.

He informed me there is no specific, and in 90 days wen I am allowed back I just have to be more careful and read the description of the items I buy.

I asked to speak to a supervisor and he refused. He told me he was the end all be all of the company and there was nobody else to speak to.

If I deserve this punishment, and more than likely I do, I will leave that be.

The problem I have is the idea that there is no defined number or specific situations where I know what I can and cannot do. In the past 12 months, I have done no less than 915 transactions - as I have 915 POSITIVE feedbacks from sellers... I cannot imagine 5% of those transactions can be classified as "problems."

So what is the number of feedbacks, cases, or other negative interactions? How do I know what to do and not to do if you won't tell me?

Please have someone contact me who can speak more specifically about my account - XXX. Thank You.

Don't buy a lottery ticket. You appear to be unlucky. I have had only
one issue with my E Bay purchases and it was quickly resolved. I
respect and read the seller's description and my expectations are
based on that.If you have been unnerved by this news I would look to
other shopping alternatives. Feel, touch, smell in person. E-Bay
vendors have been wonderful to me. All the best.

I had a seller this evening who attempted the exact reason I hold
tight to my ways. The messages went as follows for an item purchased
and paid for 11/18:

Me: "please confirm these items have shipped. Thanks!"

Him: "Due to the holidays shipping was punched back to Monday
(tomorrow)"

Me: "Punched back due to the holiday? This item was paid for the
afternoon of Friday November 18, thats more than a week ago... the
holiday was ONE day last week, 6 days after I made the purchase...
perhaps we are better suited talking about a refund and you keeping
the items rather than me waiting another two days for you to even send
the items out. This is not right and an unreal expectation that you
force a buyer to wait almost 10 days for you to even ship the item
out, without notice."

Him: "Well I didn't realize just how important you thought you were so
sorry that someone in my immediate family was killed in a car accident
on their way to our holiday get together. Next time I'll make sure to
tend to some jerk on ebay before I be with my family to help make
arrangements. How about you can have your money because I'd rather
have my items than your money or attitude. Before you ask you weren't
made aware because my personal affairs are none of your business.

Sincerely,
Hope you learned something from this expierence."

IF I had a dollar for every time a lazy good for nothing seller in
this country made up a story like that I'd be rich. Its amazing how
people from across the country come up with these stories to justify
their inability to do something... but I get the reputation for
leaving feedback and seeking out other action.

I have seen it many times.

I looked at one sellers feedback and the course of 6 months used it
several times to reply to a negative review. They must have been
dropping off like flies

Its not just about feedback, its also about returns and how much you
have been refunded.

Also if you demand refunds alot the sellers can report you to ebay.
Esspecially if its unwarranted, you might get your money back, but if
its because you didnt read the auction you will get in trouble if it
happens too much. Get too many complaints about you and you will be
suspended.

The problem with alot of sellers is they post feedback after payment.
So you might have 100% positive feedback, but still have complaints
about you due to things thats happened after payment was made.

You seem to know whats going on since you say in all likelyhood you
deserve the punishment. When you come back from your suspension do
what he suggested, read the auction before you buy/bid.
