Rewards Program NOT honored

Posted Mon November 28, 2011 12:15 pm, by Milly S. written to Starbucks

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

I have been a REGULAR Starbucks customer since approximately 2006. On average I have probably spent $150 per week at Starbucks since that time. I registered for their Rewards program and, even since registering my card, I have spent, at least, $200 that was not put on the card. In any event, CLEARLY the rewards email tells me that a latte drink falls under the free refills in a same store visit. Yet, when I went for my refill reward at the Starbucks inside the Safeway store in the 3000 block of East Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ today, I was told by the Starbucks employee and manager that NO hot coffee or coffee drink is included, despite the email I have from Starbucks stating otherwise. It is ABSOLUTELY wrong and fraudulent for us to receive written statements from Starbucks and, then, at their store to be told tough luck.

I want the Safeway Manager and the Starbucks manager at the store to receive a lesson in the rules. And, in fact, a friend of mine Shannon Kline, has run into the same type problems with iced coffee drinks. She was told at a different store that it only applies if you go to a "corporate-owned" Starbucks. That said, i suppose we have to try to discover which Starbucks are "corporate-owned" since that information is not provided at the Starbucks locations.
Starbucks PLEASE EDUCATE your employees or provide your customer with BOLD PRINT DISCLOSURES SPECIFICALLY STATING WHICH STORES WILL HONOR YOUR REWARDS BEFORE YOU SUCK US IN!!!

A store within any other store (grocery store, target, etc) are all
franchised stores so they are not obligated to participate in any
promotions. It's the same as with a fast food restaurant.

Well, they do provide disclosures; however few people chose to read
them. The majority of the replies are correct; a Starbucks inside,
say, Barnes & Noble, is not actually a Starbucks - it is a cafe
SERVING Starbucks coffee. Perhaps next time ask before ordering
whether they honor the rewards program, or go to a stand-alone store
that will be sure to. Either way, $150 seems excessive and it might do
well for your health to cut back a bit.

EVERY single starbucks I've ever gone to that's located within another
store has a sign stating that they cannot accept Starbucks cards.

Therefore rewards attached to those same cards can obviously not be
redeemed at locations that don't accept them.

There is no need to "educate" the employees since they are obviously
obeying the CORRECT rules in place.

The Safeway Starbucks are a whole other monster. They are literally
pulled in two different directions and most of the promotions dont
count at all. Heck they can't even accept tips because it is against
Safeway policy.

Stores inside other stores are not likely to be corporate-owned. Stay
out of those if the reward program is important to you. Most
corporate stores will be stand-alones.

From what I've seen, the store-inside-store purchases DO count by olie Mon November 28, 2011 @ 10:34 PM

If it's inside a Barnes & Noble by ams1001 Wed November 30, 2011 @ 8:55 PM

by RedheadwGlasses Posted Mon November 28, 2011 @ 12:45 PM

Here's one clue: "corporate-owned" starbucks likely are the
stand-alone stores. The ones located inside another business likely
are NOT corporate-owned stores.

Honestly, if you can afford $600 a month on coffee, you don't need a
free drink.
