Was unable to buy (or even locate) an item in the weekly ad

In the Target weekly ad (which expires today, 12/03/2010), there is an item advertised that I was looking to get - a game+controller combo for PS3. I checked via the website, and all Targets around me showed in stock. Lucky? I think not.

I visited one Target last night, and nothing. The rep I talked to said they could find no evidence of the item in their system - basically, as if they had never carried it before. Ok, well, I have 2 more Targets by me, I'll check those the next day.

Today, I visited 2 more Targets to receive the same information. Not in stock, nothing in the system, the item doesn't exist and they never sold it. Not on the floor, not in the back, nothing.

I tried calling customer service using the help line and managed to get myself to a supervisor who was completely useless. He insisted they do not call individual stores, and had no idea why the stores by me would have no info on the item in their system. As the item was an in-store only deal and not available online, he basically just said 'sorry' and left it at that.

And that's completely unacceptable. This is an item IN THE WEEKLY PAPER AD. Why don't they have the item, and why can't I buy it? I have a coupon that also expires today that I will now be unable to use as well.

I would love some sort of raincheck on the item, but I would also like them to accept the coupon as well (the item is $47.99, and the coupon, found on coupons.target.com, was for a $10 GC with $50 purchase, which I was intending to meet).

This is Target's fault for advertising an item that they cannot fulfill, especially considering all Targets I went to had the paper ads in their hands, saw the item listed, and could do nothing more than scratch their heads and wonder why it wasn't in their system.

It'd be nice if they gave me a copy for all the time I spent, but since they never contacted me, I guess that's that. Target, you suck. Your customer service sucks.
