Rude employees

I went to Baybrook mall in Webster Texas to so some shopping with my young sons last Monday 01/02/2012. While my 11 year old son shopped in one of the stores, I decided to brouse the Sprint kiosk located in the common area of the mall. I have been a Sprint customer for over 10 years and have been satisfied with my service until now. So when I decided to look at phones for my sons birthday I didnt expect the treatment I got.

The sales rep asked if I needed help and I told him I was just brousing the phones but I would let him know. When i finished looking, i continued to "hang out" by the kiosk as my child was making a purchase in the store net to it and I wanted to keep an eye on him. A man presented himself as the manager and asked me to move so they could look in a display case i was blocking. No problem, I relocated to another area but where i could still see my son. I was asked to move again. No problem, this time i was sure to move to an area where there was NO product to be sure I did not interfere with potential business. After about 30 seconds I was told I needed to relocate to a nearby bench and not lean against the kiosk. I politely explained that my son was in the store and I would move along as soon as he finished his transaction. I was then told if I didnt move away from the kiosk Security would be called.

I told him to go ahead and call security, which he did.

Security came, I explained the situation and they agreed to allow me to wait for my son until he bought his hat.

Contact whoever owns or operates that kiosk and have them fire the employee that treats customers like garbage.

Why did you need to stand outside the store to watch your son? Why
didn't you go in and finish his shopping with him?

i slept in a bottom rack on my first ship. It's not the best place to
be with people trying to step on your mattress when they're too lazy
to use the foot-steps provided.


and then someone decides your mattress is where their BUTT belongs
when they want to read at night... ?


I wish I was making this up but I'm not.
The female decided to read at night and the only way to do it properly
was to turn her rack-light on and sit across from it on my mattress.
While I was trying to sleep.


Worse than that... she got offended - OFFENDED - when I made her
stop!

She had the call go accuse me of 'whining' when I made her stop! As
if I should put up with her stinky buttocks on my bed?

You DO know that most malls have TONS of common spaces where you can
wait, and in some cases even SIT and wait for other shoppers?

Customer or not, that is Sprint's space that they pay the mall rent
for. You were loitering as you werent making a purchase and weren't
being served. They had every right to ask you to move elsewhere.

If your home was convenient for a neighbor to stand in your living
room to watch her husband while he mowed the lawn, would you tolerate
that?

Seriously? Point One: You were not a customer, you were just hanging
around their kiosk. Point Two: That kiosk is there to display their
merchandise, not for you to rest any part of your body on. It's a
display case, not a bench, couch or your living room sofa. Point
Three: You were getting in the way of people trying to work! Here's a
tip: Act with courtesy and respect toward other people and they'll be
more likely to treat you the same way.

I think the letter writer was definitely wronged here.

Not sure about firing the Sprint employee, but a talking to is
justified.

Maybe they were afraid you were loitering or going to shoplift? I
agree you were treated badly and have a legitimate complaint.

I was with you until you decided to be belligerent when they said
they'd call security. I don't know why it was so hard for you to sit
on the bench unless there wasn't any room, or why you couldn't just
join your son in the store (IMO, dangerous to let him go in alone
anyway since he could be snatched, despite his age).

Why didn't you just tell them, "I'm going to be looking to buy a phone
in a few minutes, I'm just waiting for my kid to finish in that
store." Without speaking up, you behaved like a loiterer.

If your not buying anything dont hang out around the kiosk, and
esspecially dont lean on it.

There was no reason for it, you could have just walked into the store
with your son and waited beside him.

I know people who just loiter around my store worry me when they have
been standing out front for a while. I can imagine its the same for
the kiosk, esspecially if they had to ask you to move twice already
because you were in the way.

anything from the kiosk, why would you think it's OK to lean on it?
You were asked to move three times before they threatened to call
security. For all they know, you are just waiting for a prime moment
to smash a case and grab merchandise or to hold them up. This is
entirely on you. I would have been nervous if you were not a customer
but leaning on my kiosk asked repeated requests for you to walk away.
Would it have been so difficult to hang out in the store where you son
was conducting business, or the bench that is designed for people to
sit on?
Employees don't need to be fired. You weren't being a customer at
that time, you were just loitering. It's also worth remembering that
lots of folk have CCW permits. Suspicious behavior can make people a
little trigger happy.

Associates that staff Kiosks hawking their goods can go from very
friendly and courteous to downright
over nearing. This one and his manager might have created a whole new
level of "service".
