you might want to check to see if your TV has a built in automatic gain control option for the volume.
iirc it's a common feature in new tvs

It is annoying, but so are lots of commercials and some shows.

long-term, body-wide pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues
That includes hearing as well?

Really? What child is going to see that and think "Ohhh so mommy and daddy are wrong and I can scream whenever I want"....?
I'd personally think they'd be more apt to learn bad behavior from reality tv or from how their friends act

We should be the ones who are screaming, not out of anger for missing a sale, but for allowing Penny's to violate advertising laws. A sale that is a constant sale, is not a sale, it is regular pricing. Structuring pricing to be 40, 50 or 70% off of "regular" pricing every day means that the lowest price of 40% is the REGULAR price.
Michael's stores recently settle a case where their constant advertising of 50% off of custom framing ran over two years consecutively. $18Million is what they got for a judgment against them as false and deceptive advertising.
This is not a sale. It is not a bargain. Companies like Bass Outlets always inflate prices so they can offer some ridiculous 70-80% off to sucker in the people who think they're getting a deal. Stop falling for this and tell your Penny's manager you want them to stop the lies.

while I don't love the new commercials for Penneys, I do LOVE the new pricing strategy!! I am so excited that I had posted it on my FB page, even before I saw the commercial. It made me decide to try them again! I take the commercial as very tongue in cheek - people are insane with coupons and sales!

has been passed. Advertisers will have to keep the volume of commercials the same as that of the TV shows: http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/loud-commercials

I agree. It's obnoxious and STUPID. Some ad agency has a few idiots to fire.
