Dirt Devil Vacum Not a Good Vacum

Posted Thu February 9, 2012 2:56 pm, by T. B. written to Royal Dirt Devil

Write a Letter to this Company

I purchased a Dirt Devil Vision Cyclonic w/ Power Hand Tool vacum recently. I needed a new vacum with a HEPA filtration system so I chose Dirt Devil. I have used Dirt Devil products in the past and was pleased with the results. Not so this time. This vacum is the worst waste of money I have seen. It will not pick up even the smallest amount of carpet debris with out having to hover over it for more time that would be neccessary with another vacum. My carpet is the standard length carpet and I have to have the vacum on the lowest floor setting for it to even pick up anything at all. I have only used it twice and I am just fed up with it. If I had not thrown out the box it came in, I would take it back to the store and get a refund. Since I did throw it out, I have no choice but to keep it. I will buy a different vacum soon and you can belive that it will not be another Dirt Devil.

There is really nothing you can do. I think you should re-look at the effectiveness of your product.

I got a resolution to this....I didn’t get a response from them after
writing this letter, so I went to the website and put in a complaint
there. I got a response within a day! The person assigned to my case
asked me to check the belt. I did. It wasn’t attached at all. I
also realized that the belt size was wrong. They had assembled by
vacuum with the wrong size belt. The representative is now sending
out two new belts. So we shall see if that fixes my problem or not.

It's a cheap vacuum though, isn't it? I have a dirt devil and it was
under $100. You get what you pay for.

I paid $90 for it. But that should be irrelvent. It should still
work. I understand its not a Dyson but it should still do what its
designed to do and that is to clean my carpet. It doesnt. I cant
afford to spend $400 on a vacum. I bought what I could afford that I
thought would do the job I needed it to and I picked Dirt Devil since
I had used the products in the past. This time it really feel short
of what I expected and what was advertised on the box.

If I were to write a letter to DD it would look exactly like this. I,
too, have had DD vacs in the past and they would last around 5-6
years, and that is with wall to wall carpet. I recently bought a DD
vac and it is a piece of crap. It doesn't have much suction in either
the hose or the carpet part. I have to spend twice as long vacuuming
the same area than it took with my old Bissel. When I go and purchase
me a new vac, I can assure you, it will NOT be a DD.
