the problem is that the request annoyed her
so now she's demanding they refund her the food she consumed.
so the real questions...
1) do they have a right to ask a vehicle to move? yes. it's their property.
2) do they owe any customer a refund on food already consumed if the customer gets mad as he or she is leaving?

The letter said they asked her to move not leave before she said she was leaving so how do you jump to the conclusion that the only reason it was about moving and not leaving is because they were all ready leaving? They were never asked to leave. As for the rest
1- they have they right to ask and the customer has the right to refuse if there is no legal reason for them to need to move. I've done this before and the cops were called. Ended up with me getting a free meal because the cop told them they could not force me to move my car for the reasons they gave.
2)No. Any thing they give the customer is a way to keep a customer happy and hopefully coming back again but it is not owed.

I know the parking lot you are talking about. Had you parked closer to Slinky Action Zone, nothing would have been said to you. Had I seen your bus parked in front, I too would have assumed kids were inside. This has nothing to do with school rivalry! I think you're taking this the wrong way and deserve nothing in return.

Whenever I see a school bus outside of a restaurant I assume the place will be packed with school aged children hopped up on field trip excitement and I keep going.
I'm sure I'm not the only person who has that thought roll through their mind and decides not to do business there that day.
I don't really see what the big deal is since you were getting ready to leave....

You said you were leaving, so why do you need to be 'encouraged' to come back as a customer?

So they asked you politely to move the bus. But you were leaving anyway so it didn't matter.
But they somehow owe you something for this?
I don't see it. Just because your temper got riled does not mean anyone owes you anything.

OMG stop looking to be offended where no offense was intended, will ya? The manager probably didn't want potential customers to be scared off -- if they saw the bus, they'd be thinking, "Oh, crap, there are 40 school kids in there, let's go somewhere else."
So get over it, move forward, and get the chip off your shoulder.
