Accumulating snow on dish continually disrupting my service

To whom it may concern:

I recently purchased DirecTV service in December 2011 at my home in Utah. Since having my service installed, there have been roughly a dozen instances of snow accumulating on my roof-mounted satellite dish, disrupting my service for hours at a time.

I am very disappointed in the fact that, despite living in a state that receives a lot of snow during the winter, I was not provided options of how I could assure that my service would not be disrupted by snow.

During the order or installation process, I should have been made aware of the fact that, living in Utah, I will have instances of snow covering my satellite, disrupting my TV signal. I feel that DirecTV should have provided me options, such as the installation of a satellite cover/hoodie to avoid the accumulation of snow on my dish.

It is unacceptable to experience a disruption of service each time it snows, and neither myself, nor my family should be expected to climb onto the roof to remove the snow off the dish. I would like DirecTV to offer a solution to this issue, which is something I believe should have been done during installation.

have lots of snow here also. When my Direct TV dish is covered with
snow my dh gets a broom with a long handle and very carefully brushes
the snow away. Them we get on with our lives. You should try it.

Do you think this is why the satellite dish in my basement doesn't
work well?
Time Warner isn't much better when it comes to the signal. If it
snows, rains or a dog barks, my system reboots - and I've has 33
different techs come out to trouble shoot.

inside a masonry walled basement is PROBABLY not the most optimal
place to get reception.

Kinda like listening to your transistor radio down there too!

I live in New England. We got DRILLED with snow last year. I have a
satellite dish. We had to use a broom to clean it off. Not a fun job,
but something we had to do to ensure that we would continue to have
satellite service. I didn't blame Dish Network. It's not their fault
that it snowed. It's just one of the risks you take living in a place
where it snows a lot.

That's like yelling at someone for not telling you rain is going to be
wet.


It's no one else's responsibility to tell you it's going to snow in
the winter.


If you don't like snow on the dish get a ladder and clean it off or
hire someone to do it for you.

than cable.

Andreas S.,

Just thinking out of the box here. Wonder if you were to spray
something like Non stick Pan Spray on the face of the dish to enhance
slippage? Wonder if those low voltage cables used to keep gutters free
of ice might be able to be used somehow?

You live in Utah, if snow covers your roof, its reasonable to expect
it will cover your dish as well.

When you signed up for service, it was in the fine print that weather
conditions can impede satelite signals. That is why its so important
to read everything before you sign. I doubt there is much DTV will do,
your name is on a form that states that you agree that weather can
affect your service.
