K-Mart Layaway Lost my 32" TV

I had a 32" Hitachi on Layaway and I went to pay it off yesterday. After I paid it off, the lady came back to me and informed me that they lost my item, so they had to refund my money. I wanted to know what, if any, responsibility does K-mart take when something like this happens? By the way, they don't carry that item anymore so they weren't able to offer me one off the shelf.

your TV with no real offer of recourse other than a refund.

Like others mentioned, it seems like this would have been a good
instance to offer something comparable to make up for it.

TV that is at least as good as what you bought from them. If you book
a rental car and it's not available, they give you an upgrade. Let's
hope they give you a bigger TV!

If it were me I would take this as a sign.

I would take my money and search out a better source for not only the
TV of your choice but service should the need arise.
