Lack of Customer Service (No warranty service)

Posted Fri April 6, 2012 6:30 pm, by Jerry S. written to Vizio

I purchased a 42" Vizio HD LCD TV a little over a year ago. I puchased an extended warranty. If I use an HDMI cable, I keep losing the picture. The TV works fine as long as I use a composit cable. I've contacted Vizio a number of times, and am always told that there is nothing wrong with the TV, that the problem is with my DirecTV receiver.

I've had DirecTV replace the receiver, and the TV still does not work using the HDMI cable.

I've had this problem ever since I purchased the TV.

Vizio flat out refuses to repair or replace the TV.

At this point, I'd like Vizio to replace the TV. When I call technical support, they always tell you how wonderful the customer service is, but then refuses to do anything to prove it. Everything is always some elses fault.

Have you tried a different HDMI cable? I have a Vizio 47" set and am
using HDMI cables for my setup as well. Everything works, but the
cable I use to connect my laptop to the TV does have some problems. I
initially was using it for my DVR, but when it would get jiggled &
lose the connection, I swapped out the cable, and it's worked
perfectly. Now I have the loose connection appear when I connect the
laptop. Common link is the HDMI cable itself. Since it's only
occasionally that I connect the laptop, I jus live with it.

I would check the HDMI cable before anything, esspecially since it
works perfectly using the other cables.
