Complaint!!!!!

Posted Sun April 22, 2012 4:41 pm, by Heather H. written to Darden Resteraunts/ Longhorn Resteraunts

I have just returned from eating at the Longhorn Steakhouse located at 5435 Whittlesey Boulevard, Columbus, GA (706) 576-2141. We arrived at around 2:30 pm on a Sunday the church crowds were gone and it was not very crowded. They gave us an estimated wait time of 15-20 minutes which I found was odd since they had plenty of employees standing around and plenty of unoccupied tables. Our first mistake was taking the hostess up on the offer to sit in the bar area at a high top table. the waiter came right over and took our drink orders and then our food order. Then apparently his shift was over so he closes himself out at the bar and kept saying he had get out of there..(to the other employees, he never informed us) yet he stood there talking and watching basketball. After about 30 minutes I could feel my blood pressure rising, finally someone else brings our food to us and after what seemed like another eternity he finally came to offer us dessert. I politely (although by this point I'm feeling everything but polite) I said I am just ready to get the check and go, I feel like I have been here forever.... he looks at me blankly and says.. It's not because of the service is it?? (Well DUH!!) I said Yes, it actually is. He just looked at me blankly and walked off.. no apology, no manager no nothing. Just to make matters worse I had the worst steak I have ever had in my life, the food was terrible and the service was worse. Just to be clear I am highly upset with this resteraunt.

I would like to be fully or partially reimbursed for having the worst meal of my life, along with even worst service. We paid $38.00 and all we came away with was a headache.

I strongly believe that if you can't muster up the adultness long
enough to deal with your bill WHILE THERE IN THE RESTAURANT, then you
don't get a refund when you send a letter after the fact.

You're making alot of excuses... by jeishere Mon April 23, 2012 @ 9:17 AM

Actually it DOES say that - the server closed himself out at the bar, but stayed AFTER clocking out to watch the TV by PepperElf Tue April 24, 2012 @ 1:13 PM

No it DOES NOT by jeishere Wed April 25, 2012 @ 9:33 AM

O_o did you actually read the letter? The OP specifically said the original server clocked out and another one took over. I'll provide the quotes to show you what you're not seeing by PepperElf Mon April 30, 2012 @ 10:01 AM

1) it says "closes himself out at the bar". This is different than
"clocking out" like you keep insisting the letter says. This has to
do with closing out his transactions at the register, not being off
the clock.

2) The next part is a little more ambigious: After about 30 minutes
I could feel my blood pressure rising, finally someone else brings our
food to us and after what seemed like another eternity he finally came
to offer us dessert.

I took it to mean the orginal server when back and offered them
dessert. It not uncommon for someone else to bring out the food. I
went to Red Lobster last night and a runner brought us our food, but
our server check with us shortly after.

Either way, you have to admit its bad service when you don't even know
who your server is or they don't check on you when after your food is
server, especially to see if your steak is cooked correctly.

cos yeah employees always close out at the end of their shift... yet
magically remain clocked in.

sounds more like you're trying to split hairs ... off the clock is off
the clock. even if you don't like the phrase the OP used. even if a
customer gets mad that the employee is no longer going to be serving.

servers are not servants. they don't have to work off the clock no matter how mad a customer gets by PepperElf Tue May 1, 2012 @ 11:39 AM

Customers do expect to get served... by jeishere Tue May 1, 2012 @ 12:41 PM

it's not dramatics - it's reality. no customer is entitled to be served by someone who is off the clock. by PepperElf Tue May 1, 2012 @ 2:34 PM

I'm not asking anyone to work for free by jeishere Wed May 2, 2012 @ 9:20 AM
