stolen electronic devices and awful customer service

I called in to the local agency to rent a car. I explained to her that i had previously rented a car and i would like the same exact car if possible. The agent told me that was possible and that they would have one there for the day that i needed to rent it. so i made a reservation. i went in to the store on the date and time for pick up and was told by the manager that they did not carry a car like that in there fleet. I told him what the rep told me on the phone and his response was "IM NOT SURE WHY SHE WOULD TELL YOU THAT". He told me he would call me whenever they had the cars back ffrom getting oil changes. So i left the store and placed a call to the airport location. I spoke to a rep and she assured me that they had that particular car that i was requesting at the location where i was supposed to pick up from initially. I made another reservation and she gave me a confirmation number. I went back to the store and told the same guy what the airport told me and he sd sorry but they do not know what they are talking about. We are now an hour and a half past my scheduled pickup and still no car. After having no choice i ended up renting a van whic ultimately ended up costing me more money! At the conclusion of my trip i retuned the van. 1 hour after drop off i realized that my son left some elctronic devices in the a compartment within the glove box. i immediately called down and spoke to a rep who told me that the van was gettin an oil change and he would call that location and ask about my items and he would call me right back. I never heard back so i called the next day and spoke to another rep who told me that that van was immediately rented after i dropped it off and they went through the van after drop off and found nothing but he said he would call and ask the customers if they could look for my items and he would call me back. After another promised phone call not made back to me i called again and another rep told me that the van was retuning on the up and coming sat and he would speak with the customers and look for himself and he would also call me back. He never called either. a few days later i got a courtesy call from customer service in which i explained my situation and the rep said he would have someone call me immediately! A few days later i received a call from Brett the district manager for the area advised that i call him back at 614-738-3056 so that he can assist me and help me resolve my issue so that i am a happy customer. I have called this guy 3 times back at that number and i have called the store 4-5 more times and every time i ask to speak with Brett the reps tell me that they will email him the message. My rental was from 4/4/2012-4/11/2012. Today is Saturday April 28 2012 and i have not received any kind of call or response from anyone. I think that whoever found the electronics kept them and blew me off. I called within an hour of dropping off the vehicle. I will never ever rent from them and i will tell everyone that i talk to how i was treated and how i believe i was stolen from by that agency! Not only do i believe that i must say this is probably the worst customer service i have ever received in my entire life. Unprofessional and classless!!

I want my money back for the rental and i want all of my sons electronic devices replaced!

They sure do change the oil in their cars a lot.

You won't get your sons' electronics devices back as the rental agency
is not responsible for lost and/or stolen items.

So I guess you'd better go to Toys R Us and start forking cash out of
your wallet for the replacements.

The rental compony is not responsible for your lost items. They should
have called you back and told you they didnt find them but they are
not responsible for the replacement of them. Also, the location you
were at knows more about what they have available then some other
location. They could have handled the whole situation better but I
dont think you have the right to ask for your money back, for them to
replace the lost items, or to say they stole anything. And if that is
the worst customer service you have ever recieved then you are VERY
lucky.

My son got a new Ipod and he took it to school the next day where it
was promptly stolen. You don't hear me yelling that the school should
pay for it, no. My son, although very upset, understood that he
shouldn't have taken it in the first place and that is why he no
longer has it. He takes better care of his stuff now.

Your son was careless. I suggest that you deal with him appropriately
based on his age and general carelessness.

therefore it is not stolen.

sure sure you want them to pay for it but... you are only assuming he
left it there and didn't lose it somewhere else. and you're assuming
an employee took it.

the problem you have is that you have no proof it was left in the car.
they can't pay you for your son's mistake cos... they don't know if
it was really left behind. as far as they know your son never even
owned an mp3 player in the first place.

edit - my bad "some elctronic devices" ... wait do you even know what devices they were? if you don't how can they replace them? n/t by PepperElf Mon April 30, 2012 @ 12:46 PM

If you used the van for it's intended purpose then you don't get the
money back that you spent for it. It was your responsibility to get
all of your (and your son's) belongings from the car when you turned
it in. It would be nice if they were turned in but chances are, you
just gave either the next renters or the clean up crew some free
gifts.

Sorry you are responsible for all items left in the car. Its not
their fault you lost them. Do you have proof they were in the
glovebox? Do you have proof you even had them? How does the rental
agent confirm it was there?

Also why would you go back to the airport and ask someone who does not
work on the lot for the same exact car right after the lot manager
told you they dont have it. Who do you beleive? the person who doesnt
work there? or the person who does. Thats your fault for wasting your
own time.
