Wacky pack toys

Posted Tue July 3, 2012 12:57 am, by Connie M. written to Sonic Corporation

Write a Letter to this Company

You took away the toys from the kids wacky packs and donated the money to somewhere. That is like forcing us to donate when we donate in other ways.If you as a company want to donate to a charity that's all good and fine~but when my children don't get the toy like they are use to because you took it away to donate ~well, that sucks!!! We will take our business elsewhere. When we pay for a kids meal~we expect a toy.
Donate company money~but don't take from our children. You are literally taking their toy away and donating in your companies name.If my children are forced to donate~shouldn't it be in their names? You shouldn't take from children because your company wants to donate money. You make alot of money and it is just plain wrong to force our children to donate!
Like I said~we are taking our business elsewhere~where there is a kid friendly atmosphere! We weren't given a choice as to donate or not and you had no signs or anything letting us know that when we ordered the wacky pack as usual~that you stole the toy out of it!Shouldn't you have at least let us know before receiving our food and having to ask~where is the toy.NO SIGNS~NO WARNING~NO CHOICE~NO BUSINESS!

Give out of your own pocket instead of the kids meals! And we should have been let known that you are no longer giving toys.No signs~nothing.Quit taking from children~take from your big wig company if you want to donate! After all~you are donating in your name~not in the names of all the kids that are getting ripped off.Making yourself look better by taking away, without a choice, from children is SO WRONG!
YOU SUCK!!! AND~YOU HAVE LOST LOYAL CUSTOMERS OVER YOUR BAD DECISIONS!
MY children want their toys!!!!!!!

Or you could take them to a park and let them run off the grease you
just fed them. And why does any kid deserve a toy every time they get
food..

From what I read on the internet, according to California state law,
state lawmakers passed a law stating that toys WILL NOT be included in
kids meals. This applies to any fast food restaurant in California.

So if the op is upset about this, perhaps she should write the to
State of California about her unhappiness.

Seriously? Over a $0.10 toy??? Really???

There are just no words for this.

Okay, so let me get this straight. You're upset because Sonic chose to
be a good citizen rather than give you plastic junk? If the price of
that is losing you, so be it. It's doubtful they'll even notice the
loss in their ledger.

I do not live where the OP lives, but the Sonic near me does indicate
on the menu at that particular location that the toy which is included
in the wacky pack meal is only available upon request.

Personally I would rather give my business to a fast food place that
donates to charity instead of giving out cheap plastic toys that will
be used a short time, break and become a part of our landfills.

If your children desperately need these cheap toys, go to the dollar
or party store where I'm sure you can get like 10 of them for $.50 and
give them to your kids when you go out.

The last time we got one the toys were - go figure - yet ANOTHER
movie-tie in. All that $$$ wasted just to get a license for some toys
to promote another movie.

And then the toys didn't work ... unless you got ALL of them.

Yep it was some madagascar toy set where you had to collect all 6 in
order for the jungle set to work.

So 6 trips just to try to get the whole set? I mean sure most toys
come in sets but... you can at least use them separately. but this
new one? nope it doesn't really work well that way. you have to buy
the whole set really.

I'd rather read a book about some kid's drum set, or giggle at the
tiny lantern.

included in the kids meals. Most times they never made it out of my
car and I would end up throwing the junk away when I (eventually)
cleaned the car.

Connie M.,

This would ba a great time to educate your children on coming to terms
and learning how to deal with certain things in life that one has
little or no control over.

Good luck.

From what I can see they started this in January. And although I
can't see the signs in front of the location I can see where they
posted this on their FB account - link is below - and where they
posted this on their official web page as well.

http://www.portlandsonic.com/twc/news.html

Both sites report the same information - they started doing this on
the FIRST day of the year.

Which makes me wonder why a "loyal customer" to that location didn't
know about it until July, over a half year after they started this
operation....

Sonic is donating to charity & to children's education. I call that
kid friendly.

My children want a pony.. They aren't going to get one.

Kids today are too pampered. I never got toys in my meals growing up..
Heck I got spanked, left by myself at home when I was 12, didn't have
an Iphone and yadda yadda yadda and I turned out ok.

The toy was free to begin with, Sonic isn't "stealing" from your kids
or "forcing" them to do anything.

by spunkyboy08 Posted Tue July 3, 2012 @ 1:25 PM

So you are taking your business elsewhere just because your children
did not get a free toys.

Okay...

That is your perogative.

When I was a kid, I rarely ate kids meals. And I did not have to have
the toy that came with it. It did not matter to me whether or not I
received a toy with my meal.

I am curious as to why the OP feels that donating to youth charity &
sponsoring education is a bad decision.

Cos in California in at least one city (San Fran) and one county
(Silicon Valley) you don't get toys period.

The local legislation banned them from issuing toys with kids meals,
claiming it helps fight obesity.

And I love how you claim they're "taking away from children"....

I looked this charity thing up online and they're DONATING TO
CHILDREN.

http://www.facebook.com/SonicPortland/posts/10150458589881272

Welcome 2012! And with a new year, comes new ideas! Effective January
1st, we will no longer be offering toys in our Wacky Pack children’s
meals.

Instead, we will be making a donation to local youth charities for
every Wacky Pack meal sold. Donations will be made on a quarterly
basis with a focus on childhood education and youth outreach programs.
The selected charities and the amount donated to each will be
announced quarterly. **Like this post if you think this is a super
idea, like we do!

So while you claim they're stealing from your children, they're REALLY
donating to local youth charities and sponsoring education.

Yeah I can see how sinister that sounds.

you could use the contact us link at the bottom if you have any

As a previous poster mentioned, the wacky pack toys are free.

Why all the fuss over not receiving a free toy?

This decision could have been made by their Corporate office. Sonic
chose to donate the money elesewhere. Since you feel that was a bad
decision, it might be a good idea for you to write to their corporate
office & voice you feelings.

When you feed your kids at home do you give them a toy? When you goto
your favorite restaurant do they give you a toy with your meal?

It was free, and it was nice while it lasted. There is nothing in the
constitution that says you are owed a toy when you buy a kids meal.
Sure its nice, but ITS FREE be happy you got it when you did. If they
want to stop giving them its their business.

Seems to me kids now adays could use a little lesson in giving to
others and not always taking for themselves.

I agree, changing the product significanty without any sort of advance
notice isn't the best way to run a business. I think you have a good
idea that this should be an option.
