Glen Ellyn Walmart is an Embarassment to the Company

live near the Glen Ellyn, IL, Walmart on 53 and Butterfield. The store has had a marked drop in customer service, maintenance standards and inventory over the last few months.

Numerous times a week there are no shopping carts available in the store, while several dozen are spread throughout the parking lot, which is nice when it's raining. It's also a rare event to find a cart that's not wedged together with others, has working, non squeaking wheels and isn't literally rusting apart.

It's also commonplace for the Self Service checkout lanes to be closed or, if opened, to have handwritten "Cash Only" signs taped up. The self service, when working, are highly preferred to the manned registers, since no more than a quarter of them are ever opened, with the resulting long lines and slow employees.

I've actually left the store without purchasing anything I picked up because waiting in the checkout line would be far longer than it took to select the items.

The number of out-of-stock items has also become a major issue. Every department has swaths of bare shelves. Several items, especially in Food and Men's Clothing, based on the shelf price signs, have not been in stock for several months.

What do I now do? I simply go to the local Target, which is a little farther and costs a couple of dollars more. But at least I know I can find what I need, it's not a mess, the checkout lines are never backed up and the carts are actually useable.

The newly renovated Super Walmart on 83 in Villa Park is the Walmart quality every American has come to expect. Why the Glen Ellyn Walmart's breakdown is tolerated by Bentonville is unfathomable.

The corporate office needs to review the Glen Ellyn store's operations, management and maintenance and do something about it. The Yahoo Local guide has listed eight separate 1-star reviews for that location. One star reviews usually are reserved for deceptive merchants or restaurants that caused food poisoning.

I am very interested in this letter's response from Walmart. I would like to think that legitimate complaints about a store's overall quality would be a major concern for Walmart's reputation and local community standing. I hope that the Glen Ellyn Walmart will receive the same upgrade the Villa Park store just completed, along with an overhaul of their management and policies.

Sure sure the store has employees right? But there's only so much you can do when you have customers who constantly leave carts wherever they feel like it. I've always hated that cos to me that's just LAZY. I once saw someone leave a cart just 2 - that's right TWO - spots away from a corral. Like what the hell is their problem? Are they in such a hurry they can't walk their lazy butts 10 more feet? Seriously who the hell is that lazy... apparently someone was tho. 2) No more than a quarter Um. This is normal for ALL walmarts. They also got new CC swipers and are hiring quite a few people, all within the last 6 months. They also got new floors to, which cause static build up and quite a painful shock if you touch the metal (OWIE!!!) The other 3 I don't know about cause I don't go there very often. It rare that I get a cashier that is in a bad mood. I even think that the theft scanner on the way out the door got an overhaul since they were going off randomly whether or not anyone was passing by them, but they still have the greeter standing a long way from them.
