Never Do Business with IndyMac Bank
Posted Thu September 20, 2007 12:00 pm, by christine T. written to IndyMac Bank
Write a Letter to this Company
I had been dealing with IndyMac for several years with some CD's. It was very easy to fund my accounts with them, too easy. Now that I have been waiting for them to mail me the 80,000 they owe me, I have been getting the run around. First they asked me to fax a letter of my request to them which I did. I faxed this letter over two weeks ago and I have not received any of my funds. Each time I have called I have been on hold for endless amounts of time to have to be forced to listen to their promotions and self boasting on how wonderful they are. Then I am forced to speak with a poorly trained call center employee who has NO CLUE where my funds were mailed to or when.
I have been placed on hold many times and many times the call was dropped and I have to face re dialing and going through the entire process again.
I have this to say. I will NEVER deal with this bank again.
I want my money sent to me overnight in a secure Fed EX envelope. I cannot for the life of me understand why this bank would think sending my funds regular mail would be a reward to me, a loyal customer. I am losing a lot of money in interest during this time and I feel IndyMac should compensate me for this loss. I do not even believe at this point my funds were sent out to me. I think IndyMac bank has been holding on to my money to keep the interest for themselves. This is criminal and I am going to be consulting with an attorney at this point. I have been told if my checks don't show up that they would have to mail me out forms and do an investigation. I believe this is more stalling on their part and IndyMac has NO intentions of ever returning my money to me.
IndyMac owes me over 80,000.
NEVER do business with this bank, they are incompetent and liars.

Agree with the headline! Customer service is poor and it takes forever to get the money out even from Money Market account. Their "Move money" feature in the web-site takes longer than regular check. I have asked checks to be mailed twice and still do not have them. They would not waive wire transfer fee or offer any solutions to fix the situation. Their customer reps and their managers promise to call back and then never do. Made a wire transfer and closed out the account. This company if continues like that, will go bankruptcy soon.

Are you ready for the truth? They do not have your money. Look at the video link below to gain some perspective on how the banking industry really works. This is interesting. Indymac's stock price has plummeted from around $30 dollars to now $4 dollars a share. They are stalling because they do not have it They are goig to have to create it out of thiiin air You see if they are having trouble creating loans to others then they are having problems creating the money with the central bank to get you the money when you request it. Most people these days do not understand how our money system works. This smells like a possible bank run on Indymac. It probably isn't your 80k alone that is revealing this secret bank scam. There are probably thousands of people like you requesting a withdrawal all at the same time Inconjunction with their horrible outstanding deliquent mortgage side of their business, they are toast.
Please do not take my word for it. Do your own due diligence. Educate your self on how the banking system really works.
Here is a link to a 40 minute video that really clarifies how the banking system works-

You are so right about Indymac bank. Everyone that works there, that I have talked to, are liars and losers. No one is trained there. They never follow through with what they promise and most----far most of the time, you reach voice mail without a return call for days.
I will never do business with Indymac bank again, after I finish with them on my construction loan.

Today I fired Indymac Bank. It told them I did not want to take another cent in their construction loan to me. From the beginning of applying for the loan in Oct. 2006, I got incompetent help with EVERY single phone call going to voice mail and never returned for at 24 hours!
This bank is in trouble and have had to lay off thousands of people. I'm sorry that people lost their jobs, but I'm glad Indymac Bank is in trouble. They do not deserve to be in the lending business. They make promises and tell you things and Never follow through.
Indymac Bank is part of what's wrong with America!
Do not do business with them, unless you love being disappointed.

This also sounds fishy to me. Usually, when requesting funds from a CD or other investment, you need to fill out more paperwork than just a letter of request. And most places I work with require a form with an original signature, not a fax, especially with this amount of money. (Note: I work in financial services and have dealt with money withdrawals many times, so I'm drawing on my own personal experience.)
I'm wondering if the person you originally spoke to gave you the wrong information on what you needed to provide. I agree they should be a heck of a lot more helpful, instead of shrugging their shoulders and saying, "I dunno", especially with $80k at stake.
As someone suggested below, I'd try your local branch and see if you can get better information. At any rate, I do hope you get this resolved.

Haven't you heard of transferring money? There is no longer the need for checks in the mail.
If someone owed me $80,000, I wuld be on their @$&. This soumds fishy to me.
