i think your post is the silliest thing i have ever read.
i work at a service desk at jc pennys and just because a comforter did not fit does not make it defective.
that would be like saying since most of your t-shirts are mediums and you bought one that was medium and did 'not fit' makes it defective? ah, no. there is nothing WRONG with it , it just simply didnt fit your bed, you think ALL queens, kings or doubles are the EXACT SAME SIZE? come on.
another thing is ,
you got a item refund,
quit crying about your shipping and handling, dont you think its a bit extreme that you closed your accounts over a 10 dollar shipping fee which is perfectly legal in not refunding it,
it is not jcpennys fault that you ordered something you had never seen before and it 'did not fit' ..
get a grip lady.
sincerly,
associate 0475
ps. i truly find this aggravating ,
common sense is in dire need here.
i dont come into your job and act like a nut job
so how come its okay for you to me?
defective, hahaha
lady i think your defective.
ppss. a little sense of humor never hurt! i really do love the people that come into penny's and it shows except for the 2% that are idiots !

Yes, that's correct. We don't refund shipping charges. We do look forward to your business in the future. Thank you for shopping Penney's, and have a nice day.

I don't know of anyone who refunds shipping charges for returned merchandise, they have already payed the company who shipped it, and will not get their money back.
It is your responsibility to make sure the measurements given for the product you are ordering will fit your bed.
Also if you don't know, closing your JCPenny cards has actually negatively impacted your credit score temperarily, so you kind of screwed yourself on this one.

I've ordered things from JCPenney over the years (although admittedly, not in a while), and if I didn't like something I ordered, I just took it back to the store to save on shipping charges. I would suggest you consider doing that if you live anywhere near a store, especially on something like bedding, which probably costs, what, $10-$20 to ship?

All beds are different and need different things. This is one reason when shopping online I always read the measurements and measure the bed before ordering. New beds have different toppers that add to the depth of the mattress. I have to really look around to fit my temper pedic memory foam one. Just because they didn't fit dosen't mean they're defective.
Comforters and quilts and duvet covers ARE different things. Isn't legal larceny an oxymoron?
At any rate, I'd have kept the window treatments and found something that co-ordinated with it and perhaps asked for an exchange. But that's just me.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with everyone else on this one.
The product didn't actually fit and JC Penneys was still good enough to accept the merchandise back with a full refund. It's understandable that they wouldn't refund the shipping.
If you think family and friends are going to stop supporting them, you may find yourself surprised.

I'm wondering if possibly you were ordering bedding for a queen size bed and the comforter and quilt were sized as "full/queen"? It is very important to order by the actual measurements vs. the bed size as they can vary. Also, because today's mattresses are thicker than they used to be, you may want to order a king for a queen bed depending on how far you want it to fall on the sides.
However, JCP has a policy that they don't refund shipping and handling charges no matter the reason for the return - - so the fact that you have closed your accounts, will never enter a JCP store again and are going to tell your story to everyone you know won't change anything.

Everyone here is saying that the OP is at fault for not measuring her bed before ordering the sheets. Maybe I'm missing something, but I generally don't measure my bed before I buy sheets either - I have a queen-sized bed so therefore I order queen-sized sheets.
I purchased a queen-sized bedding set from Kaufmann's one time, and when I got it home, the ends would not even stretch to cover both corners of the bed. This was definitely only a full-sized sheet, even though the package stated it was queen-sized. In my case I just took it back to the store, but I can see the OP's point that it is unfair to penalize her for shipping charges when the return is Penneys' fault.
I do agree with everyone though that the statement that they will not ever shop there again limits what Penney's will do for them.

You could tell each and every person you know anything you want and they will still go to JC Penneys unless they had a bad experience. Hollow threats make you sound immature.

OK, lemme explain this to you since you are obviously too busy fuming to comprehend.
If you basically tell a company they're dead to you, you don't get to ask them to do anything for you. You've sworn them off, threatened to tell all your friends how bad they are and basically maligned their reputation with your experience.
Yeah, I'd be rushing to refund your shipping too.
NOT!
Oh & that was not a defect; failure to double check the dimensions before ordering is not their fault.

Let me make you this promise: Your friends and family don't care, don't want to hear about it, and will make their own decisions as to where to shop. Your ridiculous complaint (defective? because it's too small?) got laughed at because it's amusing to people who have heard it all before.

"Whats more aggravating about this is that when my husband was apeaking to them on the phone they sounded like they got a kick out of refusing the refund"
Um, did he throw out terms like 'legal larceny' when he was on the phone with them?
If so, the attitude he heard was likely the result of them attempting to control their laughter.

The fact that do not fit does not, as others have said, make them defective.
Legal lareny?
"Myself and..."
Excuse me while I scratch my itchy teeth over your horrendous grasp of the English language...
Okay. Done. Getting back to your letter, you're ridiculous and you overreact grossly to the pettiest of things. Do you HONESTLY believe your "friends" are going to boycott JC Penney because you don't have sense enough to order the proper sheets?

Not fitting doesnt make them defective.. it means you ordered the wrong size. If your screwed up, you pay the shipping. That's not such a brain-stretcher.
I'm not sure what "lareny" is, but I'm sure Penney's is not guilty of it. Sounds like you just cant admit that you missed up. And here's oen more hint: If you want money from a store.. don't tell them that you canceled your account, will never set foot in the store again, will tell others not to shop there and accuse them of crimes. What's their motivation to give you anything? After all that, you'd never see a dime from me.

Do you really believe people will stop going to Penneys just because of your experience?
Big deal.
