My son, Michael is a U.S. Marine Corporal stationed at Camp Pendleton California. He was raised in Vermont and has flown many times to Burlington, Vermont while on leave. Jet Blue flies to Burlington (a small airport)so this is a natural for him. My wife and I have made a practice of flying Jet Blue whenever possible too. I have noticed in the last 3 years their customer service is slipping. The horror stories aside (12 hours stuck on a runway @ JFK, Backup of the toilet system on 1 plane resulting in human waste running down the aisle, etc) Jet Blue took the cake with my son yesterday. He was to leave Burlington @ 4:30 yesterday afternoon. The flight was delayed supposedly due to rain. The odd thing was despite this delay, Michael indicated to me that other airlines were flying in & out of Burlington during this Jet Blue delay. My son had to report back to Pendleton as his leave was set to expire. He asked several representatives of JB if he would make his connecting flight at JFK (6:40 PM) The Burlington flight arrived at JFK @ 6:25, He de-boarded the plane @ 6:30PM arriving at the gate for his San Diego flight @ 6:35 PM. They were locking the gate and would not allow him on. He said tothe Jet Blue CSR that he needed to be back at Pendleton. They told him he would have to wait till morning. He then asked them to put him up in a hotel. They refused telling him
weather related delays are not their fault. He spoke with several supervisors to no avail. The so called weather delay was an excuse because they sold his seat. He's out $129.00 for a hotel room, dinner, breakfast, and parking for an extra day at San Diego's airport. To make matters worse he also lost a day of leave so he could put up with Jet Blue's garbage. Michael leaves for a second tour of duty in Iraq in September. Jet Blue has disrespected my family for the last time. We fly quite often. We used to fly only Jet Blue. Never again. Word of mouth is powerful advertising. I am now on a mission. This airline's propaganda says they're all about service. It's sad that an individual who is making the ultimate sacrifice in service to his country is mistreated by another one of America's greedy corporations. It's sad that this once promising airline which seemed to do things differently as a startup, now takes their customers for granted.
God Bless and Protect Our Troops.
Sincerely,
Kevin P. Greenan

Let's try the scenario your way.
They board the flight at MCO and you, your wife and your kids get on. The pilot flies to JFK then can't land because of the sotrm. The pilot circles the plane till it runs out of gas, then the plane crashes and you all die. Or ending # 2 the plane has to turn back and land somewhere else other then your destination. Ending # 3 by some fluke of a miracle the pilot can land the plane. You get your bags, and get into what ever mode of transport you are using. You get in an accident and get seriously injured or die. All this cause you are so impatient that you can't wait for a bit. Chill out dude.
I would rather be in an aiport for 18 hours (which is not a 1 1/2 days) and get home safely after the storm.

On another note...I do feel Jet Blue should compensate your wife for having to sleep with you in the airport...or where ever! lol Your kids should probably get a little something for their troubles too!

Did you call for a "Wambulance" when you got to JFK? You think a weather issue justifies giving you 4 tickets? OMG are you so fricking ignorant..DirecTV wasn't working the entire flight! Where from JFK were you flying to? China? Why could you not take the time to enjoy your family with an activity or two? NO...you would rather complain because there was no TV to babysit. What did Jet Blue have to do with causing you to wait...blame God...perhaps the next time you fly Jet Blue you could sue him/her for the weather?!

While I feel the weather issue is not something you should be compensated for the lack of Direct TV is.
Jet Blue uses the lure of DirectTV as an incentive to choose them over other airlines.
I don't feel you should get free travel from Jet Blue but a voucher for $25.00 towards another flight would be fair based on how short the flight to NY from FLA is

wow. What kind of father are you that your wanting to risk your family's lives in order to get home? If you made a big deal about THIS, I'd love to see how you would have dealt with Hurricane Katrina. Consider yourself lucky on this one and get over it!

Wow. I cant beleive you would value 18 hours of time over your own life and the lives of your children. I'd gladly take 18 hours over the possibility of an early arrival of an eternity in a pine box 6 feet under. You should be ashamed of your behavior and your utter disregard for your children's safety most of all. :grandmas's finger wave: TSK TSK!

Good luck getting anything from Jet Blue. I dont think you are owed anything. This is winter time, weather cancellations happen from time to time. Have you never seen flights cancelled due to snow and people having to spend the night at the airport?
If you needed to get back to JFK why did you not drive if it was that important for you?

Your blaming the airline because they took your safety into consideration? I'm sure you could have driven to your destination in under 11 days, but did you do that? You had viable options, but you are choosing to blame someone else for the issue. There was nothing Jet Blue could do to change the weather. You had to deal with mother nature, it happens.

Would you rather fly yourself home in possibly dangerous conditions that could possibly harm yourselves. Are you willing to risk your 11 year old son and 5 year old daughter? I have a 6 year old daughter and a 3 year old son, and I would be grateful that the flight was delayed for their safety.

Good luck with that request. Life happens. I think the airlines gave up managing the weather back in the 1960's. It was too expensive to maintain that. So we now all pay!

I've never heard that term before.
I'm also puzzled by your "1 1/12 days" (I assume you meant) "1 and 1/2 days") wait, which a moment later you say was 18 hours (one and a half days would be 36 hours). Did I miss something?
Is this just a poorly-written letter, with perhaps some extenuating circumstances that aren't clear? Or are you really complaining about weather delays?

Jason,
Your request is way over the line.
Weather related delays are a fact of life.
Good try though and I hope you take the time to 'splain to the kids that that is not how things work.

Your return flights were delayed due to severe weather - - weather that prohibited planes from landing and taking off for the safety of the crew and passengers. Exactly what "other measures" would you suggest to paying customers to their destinations in a timely manner?

You want free tickets because weather conditions kept your plane from taking off? Unbelievable.
The complaint about the satellite TV not working just about brought tears to my eyes.
