To whom it may concern. My name is . My account number ends in . I have been a loyal and on time paying customer for about 15 months now, with at least 6 of those months making multiple payments and 14 of the 15 months paying well above the minimum payment. It was brought to my attention that one of my payments was 3 days late back in April ( while I was ill) and now my interest rate is being raised from 16.99% ( which is higher than I can get from other banks to begin with)to 24.24%. You might say I was a little upset when I received the letter. At that point I called into your customer care and was told "I am sorry we can't help you. You need to write a letter or fax a letter to our president. There is no one available to change your rate. I can note that you want a rate change and if one becomes available then we can offer that to you." I then asked how long that process would take and was told "I am not sure two weeks a month maybe longer." That to me is frustrating and hard to believe that a company has no set review structure in place to gauge customers on an individual basis. I am not sure what you constitute as a good customer, but I would say my payment history with you has been exceptional! Even the month that my payment was 3 days late (only because I was sick in bed) I paid $450 with a minimum payment of only $92 due. Then a few weeks later I paid an additional $3300 in the same month. The main reason I even have your credit card is to earn Air Tran points. With that being said I did not have a problem paying just a little higher interest rate for that reward. Now after receiving your letter I am seriously considering taking my business elsewhere.

I would like my interest rate to be reduced to at least the 16.99% I signed up for if not lower to match the rates I can receive from your competition. I also would like a one time courtesy credit of the $39 late fee I was charged back in April. If you are able to accommodate me in this manner, I will be happy to stay a customer of yours. If not, I have no problem accepting on of the hundreds of offers I get from your competitors on a daily basis and transferring my current balance in the process. Your prompt responce to this matter would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

I would suggest you accept one of the "hundreds of offers" you receive
on a daily basis from Juniper's competitors and transfer your current
balance, because by your own admission, you were late on one payment
and that's all it takes to get your interest rate increased these
days. It doesn't matter if you pay more than the minimum due or make
more than one payment during a billing cycle - - in accordance with
your cardholder agreement, late is late and Juniper is under no
obligation to reduce your interest rate or credit your account for the
late fee - - even if you have been a loyal customer for 15 months.
