customer service or extortion?

I found an account with this bank on my credit report. I have no knowledge of this account. I called Juniper/Barclays Bank Delaware to clear this up. The representative informed me it was a Frontier Credit Card (of which I still have no knowledge) and that if I payed the annual fee all other charges would be waived. I did not sign up for this account so why would I pay the annual fee to get rid of any other charges. She said she could put in a dispute but if I did not pay the annual fee now I may be liable for the other charges. How is this even fair? It sounds almost like extortion.

I would like this account closed and removed from my credit report and from my name. I want all charges to be cleared including the annual fee. I do not fly Frontier so I have no use for this card that I did not sign up for.

What did the CSR say when you said you had not opened the card? From
what you say, it sounds like you are the victim of some kind of
identity theft. I can't believe they would make you pay a fee if your
position is you didn't open the card.
