I spent over $75.00 on chicken, side dishes, and tea at your drive through window in Bluefield WV for a family gathering last Sunday. When I arrived at the group gathering, I discovered that the KFC drive through employee had not given me any plates, napkins or eating utensils. This was SUCH an inconvenience!!! It was too far to drive back to the restaurant and we didn't have any plastic ware on hand, so we had to resort to our dinnerware and do the dishes.... a real pain for what was meant to be a relaxing family afternoon.
On Monday, I called the store to complain about the poor service we received and the manager on duty told us there was nothing he could do if there wasn't a problem with the food. THE NERVE!!!!! The problem was that I didn't have anything to eat the food with!!! Isn't that part of customer service, too??

I think KFC owes me an apology at the very least and a gift certificate or something to make me return to KFC. At this point, I don't know if I'll patronize the restaurant again in the future.

so, their failure to ask if you needed eating utensils, plates and
napkins, and your failure to so the same makes them responsible and
you not?

Sorry but I totally agree with the manager on this one. We have
ordered large orders from FC also but always ask for anything extra
such as plates, napkins and such. Its there for the asking and our
location NEVER charges extra for these items.
But maybe other locations may.
Next time ask...they do not know what you want unless you tell them.

I think they assume that most large orders are just heading for home,
where there should be a plethora of plates, eating utensils, napkins,
etc.

Besides, all that stuff costs money. Would you have paid $10 extra to
cover all of that?

If you have to ask, you should have checked the bag or asked if those
items were included before you drove away.

I would never expect plates to be given out with a to-go order,
especially if these were buckets.

I don't think they own you anything, verbal or otherwise. You should
have checked the bag and asked if any of these items were included
while there. It takes some nerve to expect that once you get home
they will be in the bag.

I am as disgusted as you are. That manager should have sent some
people over to wash your dishes! And serve the food to you. Maybe
vacuum your house, too.
You just can't get good help any more.

A $75 order through a drive thru is asking to have items missing or
incorrect. It's meant for fast service, that's it.

When I go to KFC, I never get a plate with my meal. The chicken
either comes in buckets, or the individual meal platters. It sounds
like you ordered buckets of chicken, which would not include plates or
utensils.

Like the other commenter posted, most people taking KFC to go will be
going to a place where there are plates & utensils available, so they
do not include them with the chicken. How were they to know how many
plates/sporks were needed? Did you ask when you were there?

John A.,

While I understand the position you were put in by their not placing
the goods in the bag and you not checking prior to departure the 3
Principles of Drive Through Pick-Up were not adhered:

Principle # 1 Check the Bag before departing
Principle # 2 Check the back again before departing
Principle # 3 Go back to Principle #1

In defense of KFC users of the drive through are most likely taking
meals to a place to eat and the assumption could be that that place
would have the "tools".
