KFC driver should be quiet at 3 a.m.

I live in a fairly quiet area in Los Angeles a block from a main well travelled street. On that main street behind my home is a KFC. This morning about 3am, a delivery truck pulls in with music blasting loud enough to wake me and my children. In fact, it frightened my children as it was a bit heavy metal sounding, so there was lots of yelling. Once I realized what it was, I went to my rear window to confirm and saw that the driver was already unloading his delivery and the radio was even louder when I opened my window to peek out. I felt trapped, how do I get him to turn it off. blinking my lights, no notice, I was afraid frankly to get dressed and go around the corner, not knowing who I would be asking to turn down his radio at now 3:15 in the morning. I mean it was so loud I am sure he could not have been inside the truck with it that loud, It seems he just wanted to be entertained as he unloaded, not thinking about he was doing so in a sleeping neighborhood.
I looked up the number for that KFC, called no answer and no answering machine to leave a message. I then went to the KFC site and filed a complaint and I plan to call in a few hours since I am up now and unable to go back to sleep.
I am angry that this person could be so thoughtless and that there are not rules about noise, its enough that the truck itself is noisy, nothing much to do about that but to blast radio at 3:00 am for what is now about 45 minutes is unacceptable.
I would like KFC to make it company policy that all after hour deliveries will be done without excessive noise. If you are delivering to KFC outside vendor or not, you must consider the neighborhood and the time and behave accordingly.
If this is not adhered to, penalities should apply.
I would like to hear from KFC that they are making sure this does not happen again. I want to know what changes they are making.

Most cities have a noise ordinance in place. If your does then forward a copy of this letter to your council representative or directly to the law dept in your city.
They will then notify that specific KFC location send them a warning letter that they are breaking the law, and if their delivery driver keeps playing his radio at 3am while delivering stockm, both he and the company can be fined depending on the ordinances (if set up).
Please let us know what happens with this.

Im confused...why would you call KFC at 3am and expect an answer?Lol. I've never seen employees in KFC at 3am,but I could be wrong. Also from what I know, most restaurants' delivery drivers come overnight and have the key to the store without employees having to be present. I totally understand your annoyance though.

I'm on the side of the OP as far as not confronting the driver is concerned. Although I'm pretty gutsy I would think twice before confronting what I assume was a male driver behind a KFC making a delivery in Los Angeles at 3:00 a.m. I would, however, have gone outside to get identifying information off the truck such as the license plate, trucking company name, truck ID, etc. Also, many trucking companies have a "How am I driving" thing painted on their trucks with a phone number to call.
KFC most likely sub-contracts out their delivery services so dealing with them probably isn't the most efficient way to handle this annoying situation.

Call the police non-emergency number. (Or since this is L.A., is that not going to work at all?)
Why would you be afraid to tell him to turn his radio down? I wouldn't hesitate, and I'd do so in a very stern manner, as in, "make me come out here again and you will regret ever having been born."

I am so sorry that this happened to you. I hope you get a hold of the GM and let them know what happened. From experience, I can tell you that the GM is able to call the company who made the delivery, be it Yum brands or an outside company, and get this problem taken care of. If it happens again, call the police right away. Both LA City and County have Noise Ordinaces. It is 10pm to 7am Monday thru Friday and 12am to 8am Saturday and Sunday. If you had called the Police they would have came out. Also, depending on which city you live in, there are deliveriy hour restrictions, meaning no early morning or late night deliveries. I know this because I live in Santa Clarita(just north of LA but still LA County),and in certian areas trucks are not allowed to deliver between 10pm and 5am.

Regardless of what kind of noise levels you are used to or how "quiet" you believe your neighborhood to be, any major city is going to have it's share of noises.
That being said, if the rude driver didn't have the courtesy to turn his music down at 3 in the morning of his own accord and you apparently didn't have the gumption to tell him to do so, then the police should have been called. They are there to enforce the rules and ordinances that apply in your particular location. Not KFC.
But making all these contacts to the restaurant (who didn't even have control of that driver as he wasn't their employee) is not going to resolve the issue.

I assure you, there will not be deliveries to a KFC here. We do have plenty of noise during the day, farm machinery and the like.
You live in Los Angeles, the second largest city in the country until it falls into the ocean. If I were ever considering moving to a city, this is one aspect of city life that wouldn't surprise me (the KFC, not the ocean). I would also not expect to call a company at 3:45 in the morning an expect to get customer service. What you needed was the telephone number of the trucking company.
What would surprise me is if you can dictate to delivery truck drivers, company-employed or not, the amount of noise they make and kind of music they are allowed to listen to during deliveries.
This sounds like something to legislate in your community, more than something for the company to try to police. Good luck though.

here in my apartment complex we had some people talking in the parking lot that was kinda going right into windows...
someone just spoke out of the window back at them and asked them to stop. (they did)
if you feel you can't do that... call the police.

I would have gone over and explained that he was a little louder than he probably realized. I don't know that corporate needs to go to the lengths you propose, especially if this is the only time this has happened. City living has it's downsides.
