This is ridiculous. I don't even want to know what "something" carla is going "to do about" this.
No one with KFC can do anything about this, either. You give a zip code, but not the actual location of the store (I don't know about Daphne, AL, but in my suburban zip code, there are several KFC locations); you didn't give the day or time you visited; you didn't name the employee or the manager on duty. You also have no way to prove it wasn't just a cigarette, so I suspect KFC's reaction would be the same as mine was when I read this letter: laughter.

You should have phoned the police instead of writing this letter.
Just some thoughts...
1. maybe you were getting back at someone and just wanted to let them know you could report them if you really wanted to.
2. maybe you got fired from this place and are now paying them back.
3. they did not ask you to join them so you are totally ticked off at them.
Again...just some thoughts.

To all the commenters suggesting that it could have been a roll your own cigarette... how do we know the person was using papers at all? The could have been smoking out of a pipe.

I'm serious.
Sure, you want to hold the company responsible for the employee's behavior, especially if done on premises... but
I just feel it's better to take that stuff to the law yourself instead of expecting others to do it. That way you know it'll get handled.
Besides, even if it's wrong, sometimes the manager's hands can be tied as to whom he or she is allowed to fire.
One of my friends worked as a manager at a florist. He knew one of the girls was a drug addict (meth I think). The girl would scratch her own face up at night when she was on drugs and then come in to work looking nasty. Believe me, my friend WANTED to fire her.
The owner wouldn't let him.
So... just call the cops yourself.

My next door neighbor rolled her own cigarettes and it looked JUST like she was smoking a joint. I used to pick on her all the time. It even smelled herbalish.

You can't tell a 3 year old about cigarettes? I'm confused.

All you had to tell your son was that they were smoking. THEN go INSIDE and talk to the manager. IF the manager was out there too, call the cops. You can call and report anonymously so you don't have to confront the people smoking.

If you witnessed them doing it outside and it bothered you so much you should have called the police.
