I'm an employee of a nearby restaurant/bar. This past Friday, I got off of work a little before 10PM. I considered grabbing a late dinner before I left, but instead decided to visit your new A&W/KFC location in Walpole on Providence Hwy (Rte 1). I am a big fan of your Original Recipe thigh/drumstick meal!
I pulled into the drive-thru, and there was one car ahead of me, and two or three behind me. There were about a dozen cars in the parking lot. I sat behind this one person for a while, it looked like they were ordering, but I couldn't tell because it was cold and my window was still rolled up. After a while, I rolled my window down. The person ahead of me was going "hello? HELLO?!". They eventually drove off. I pulled up, waited about 30 seconds, then decided to pull up to the window. I couldn't see anyone inside either the first or second window. I decided to go inside, since I could see others parked and getting out of their cars. I pulled into a parking spot up front, then noticed a man inside sweeping the floors. He was talking to one of the three people outside trying to get in: "We're closed!" The person asked "Even the drive-thru?". The man nodded.
I drove back around the building to pull out, and noticed two more people in the drive-thru. I leaned out and told them KFC was closed.
I'm not sure when you close, but I'm assuming probably 9, as it looked like this cleaner was the only one in the building. Yet people were flocking to the doors and drive-thru to order your tasty chicken! Did you ever consider making this one of your "Late Night" locations? The Taco Bell near the Walpole Mall is open late, and it's not unusual for me to stop in there after work, and see it packed! I think you'd see a great business from local restaurant/bar employees getting out of work, and also the bar crowd who's looking for a snack after a night out, but don't want to shell out all that money for bar food.
I can say you'd have one regular customer right here. Athough the seams of my work pants probably wouldn't appreciate it!
Give "Late Night" some consideration!

This is a great letter and suggestion. They really close early! Even 10pm is early. Most places are open til 11 or midnight on the conservative side. Since they seem to be in a busy area it would benefit them to extend their hours, just an hour at a time, if even just for a trial.

I love our location - never had a bad experience there but sometimes I do work overtime until after 9pm and would love to have a pot pie or a chicken breast and biscuit.
I would do what Nate suggested as he did receive a responce.
Good letter and even better idea. Maybe they can just keep the drive thru open until 1-2am or so. Those people who get out of work after 11pm or 12am would probably like to see it open.
Please keep us posted if you receive a reply.

9 or 10 p.m. seems so early -- most fastfood places around me close at 11 or midnight, and even many of those offer drive-through service from midnight until the restaurant lobby re-opens.
Great letter. I especially love that you chose KFC over the restaurant at which you work! :)

That's an excellent suggestion. Our Wendy's closes at 10 p.m., which is too early considering it's right next to a 24-hr. Walmart. They lose a lot of business by not staying open later, especially in the summer. The drive-thru is open late, but I see a lot of people drive away when they realize the restaurant is closed.
Maybe KFC can't get enough people to work late. Anyway, I hope they consider your suggestion and find a way to extend the hours.

Julie-
What great feedback! It's refreshing to see such an excellent letter on this site. I would go to KFC.com and copy this letter into the feedback section. I had a complaint once, and I got a response the SAME DAY using the form on their website.
Who knows whether or not this email will reach them, and it is passed right down to the store level automatically using the feedback form.
