NO CHICKEN?
This used to happen at the Martinez CA location all the time, as well as my newest location which is the KFC/A&W on Richmond Parkway in Richmond, CA. I've been there eight times since we moved to Pinole and I was only able to get my order 2 of those times.
Last time I ordered an 8 piece extra crispy bucket at the window, no one else was in line but after taking my order, when I drove up to pay, I was told " no extra crispy". I don't care for original recipe, so I don't order it. We drove off.
I contacted KFC about the Martinez location as well and I never heard back.
I guess you're trying to make too many products, chix strips, different varieties etc. but be warned! I'm about to hire an attorney and attempt to sue you for false advertisement.
You're mgmt team is clearly trying a bait and switch system. when customers go there, you don't fill their order. Instead you tell them what you have available and hope they take it.
I say NO MORE!!!!
You better fix this problem because there are a lot of people out there feeling like I do
I want a free large bucket of chicken prepared for me as I order it!!!

The title would almost come across as a joke if I didn't know any better... We have that problem CONSTANTLY here in Memphis...
Here's how the conversation goes:
Me: Can I have a Spicy Breast meal please?
KFC: Yes ma'am pull up to the window and your total is $4.00...
Me: (Wanting the chicken so bad, $4 sounds good.) OK, Thanks! (and I pull forward to the pick up window)
KFC: I'm sorry ma'am, but we're all out of spicy chicken.
Me: Ok well, can I have a regular chicken breast meal?
KFC: Ma'am we have no breasts at this location...try the KFC down the street!
True Story!!!

How long does it take to fry some chicken? Maybe 10 minutes? At Wendy's, it took 6 minutes to pressure cook chicken sandwich patties, which was real filleted (sp?) chicken, so I think that may be about right.
I would rather go inside and ask that they whip up a fresh batch for you, and that way you know your chicken will be hot and fresh, and you wont have to waste time and money going to another chicken place.
And if KFC is out, try Lee's. Lee was the Colonel's cousin... I think... and their chicken is pretty good.

Weird -- my response to this from yesterday/last night is gone, but I was in complete agreement with the OP. And I hardly used the F word. (Kidding, Greg--didn't use it!)

KFC is not a "made to order" restaurant. Their whole system is set up to prepare chicken ahead of time so that customers are able to get it hot and fresh without having to wait for it to cook. Their managers and employees are trained to maintain that system throughout the day and the system is designed to account for volume swings and slow periods.
You have every right to expect they have all their products available at all times and if they don't, your main recourse is to stop patronizing their business. We don't agree this is false advertising and/or bait and switch. It's management incompetence, pure and simple. It's not up to a customer to lower their expectations to match a business's limitations - it's up to the business to meet the customer's expectations.

I know that the powers that be at PFB agree KFC should have every item available at every time of day, but when I used to patronize KFC I ran into this a few times myself. I looked around, realized there were like two customers in the joint, and cut them some slack. They just didn't seem to have the customers to warrant cooking up a bunch of various varieties of chicken, and throw them in the trays.
They have one fewer customer now - I dumped KFC for various reasons. If this problem bothers you enough, you may want to do the same.
Threatening to sue KFC and asking for a free bucket of chicken in the same letter is an interesting tactic. Let us know how this shakes out of the bag for you.
"Mmmm - we're having CHICKEN tonight, and I helped!"

Tony,
You say you want it prepared for you.
Did you ask them why they would not whip you up a batch or did you just drive off?
I am sure there is an attorney out there that will take up your cause. :')
Cluck and Cluck Esq. Attornies at Law....
If they offer you a Free Bucket it could cause problem for your litigiation so you better turn it down.
