Triscuit crackers too salty

Posted Sun March 25, 2007 1:42 pm, by Jennifer S. written to Kraft Foods North America, Inc.

I wanted to let you know that your crackers Triscuit are very good except they are too salty.

I would decrease the salt in the crackers to keep the consumers who buy them from getting sick (high blood pressure, high cholesterol).

We are really sorry that we can no longer get low sodium Triscuits. I
can't eat the regular Triscuits. Jennifer is absolutely right, they
are too salty. I though I would try snacking on Ritz, but discovered
they are saltier than I remembered. I guess people are so used to
fast food, they won't eat anything that isn't covered with salt.

I only eat low sodium everything. I didn't know that the low sodium
triscuits were removed from shelves. That's a shame.

Bad news! The low sodium triscuits have been discontinued according
to Kraft foods today. They weren't selling that well. I'm depressed,
I loved those crackers.

Here's the message from kraft customer service:

Thank you for visiting http://www.nabiscoworld.com and for your
interest in TRISCUIT Low Salt Baked Whole Wheat Snacks.

It's great to hear from consumers who are looking for our products
because it lets us know how much you enjoy them. The tough part comes
when we have to share the news that the product you're trying to find
has been discontinued.

If products don't seem to be popular with our consumers, and demand
starts to drop, a decision is made to discontinue the item. Once this
decision is made, we stop making the product and the remaining supply
is shipped from our warehouse to the grocery stores. Unfortunately we
do not have any information about which stores may still have our
discontinued products in stock.

At this time there are no plans to bring back our discontinued
products, but we are always cooking up something new to help you live
and eat better so you may discover a new favorite!

Again, thanks for contacting us, and I hope you'll continue to enjoy
our products.

Triscuits have been on the market for many years. Careful market
research by Nabisco has shown that people like 'em salty.

In recent years (15-20?), there has been a request for lower salt
items. So, Nabisco makes such an item: reduced sodium Triscuits.

So buy the easy-to-find reduced-salt version, as I do (no health
concerns, I just don't care for salt much). And for the record, there
is no medical evidence that says salt causes high blood pressure; it
may exacerbate an underlying condition, but if you're not in any
high-risk group for hypertension or high blood pressure, salt
shouldn't be a problem at all.
