My dream chair remains a dream, La-Z-Boy

Your television ads and your true prices don't match. I have been waiting to buy a specific "Hayden" recliner for months now,and thought this so-called Labor Day Sale would be my time to get my chair. Boy,was I wrong,I fact the prices are exactly the same. The ads say that the recliners are to be 200 dollars off,yet they are not. I called about the recliner I want and it is exactly full price or nothing. How can you do this to people?? It is down right dishonest and very disappointing to someone like me who has done her homework on the exact style of recliner and even the exact fabric. All I needed was a decent sale. I have saved my money for the longest time and I can be pretty sure it will never be spent at one of your stores. As much as I love this "Hayden" chair, I will not pay full price for something that if being dangled as bait during a so-called sale. I was so looking forward to getting my chair for $499 and I was so eager to run out to the store and pick it up. But,the rather rude lady I spoke to at the Field's Ertle store informed me that even though she wasn't exactly sure what was to be on sale.... she was sure it wasn't my dream chair. She even went on to insist that none of the la-z-boy stores in this whole area carries the "Hayden" chair. I know that is not true because the Florence store has one still on the floor. Between the upsetting prices and rude staff,my chair will just have to wait.
Sell the merchandise for two-hundred off like your ads say and have your staff learn some manners.

Even though the Labor Day sale is over, I thought I'd mention that I saw the add for this sale run on TV quite a few times over the weekend and the exact wording was "$200 off La-Z-Boy recliners" but at no time did they state that the sale included all recliners. So this is not a matter of anyone being dishonest and no one is "dangling bait" - - it is a simple matter that you misunderstood the terms of the sale and unfortunately your dream chair was not included in the sale.

I saw the ad in my local paper and while there is a La-Z-Boy sale, the Hayden recliner is not listed as on sale.

I suspect that the issue here is that not all recliners are included in the sale. I looked on their website but it didn't have any details, however, these sales usually have a disclaimer, i.e., something like "terms, conditions and exclusions apply". I agree with the previous poster that you might want to try and make a deal on the floor model you know exists because technically it is used. Perhaps, with the right attitude on your part, you can get your dream chair at a price you can afford. Remember - - you get more with kindness and just because you don't get the answer you are expecting it doesn't mean that someone is being rude or has bad manners.

Bevrly,
it might be too late for thi, but you might try making a deal on the floor model at the Florence store. I was in a similar situation once, except it was a couch and chair at Famous Barr. For whatever reason it was just never on sale. I just knid of made a gentle pest of myself, and eventually when they rotated the floor stock I got the set for a little less than the couch alone. The one thing is, you have to be very sweet and patient for this tactic to work, and it will never work with rude sales people.
Hey good luck - I know all about "dream furniture" you just want what you want!

Not that you should have to do this, but have you tried calling the other La-Z-Boy locations in the Cincinnati area? I know there are quite a few. One springs to mind on Colerain. Maybe it was just this particular location (Fields Ertel) who didn't have their facts straight.
I know it's a pain, but if you really want the chair, do some checking.

I went to Big Lots and got a "La-z Boy kinda chair" for about $200.
Big regret though....husband never removes his backside from the darn thing...(hmmm, on second thought, maybe that is a good thing....less time spent with hubby!).
Anyway, my point is that I spent a lot of time price shopping for "La-Z boys" type chairs and found a good deal...comparable chair for less money...don't know if you have a Big Lots in your area though....you should look around at different stores....find a place that has good prices and manners...some the stores I checked were staffed with mutants...I just walked out and went to the next store....
