Metal Roof Disaster

I went to Lowes in Rochester,NH. Glad to order a new metal roof for my house. Especially with the new tax credit I was going to get up to $ 1,500. back. I was at the pro desk, basically teaching this woman who sells real estate, yet here she is, at the pro desk. I told her I wanted the gray color that is one of the choices for a tax credit. After an hour or so, (felt like a day) she kind of knew how to order it for me, the pieces were to be cut to fit. All was going to be okay. Metal roof arrived at my house one week later as they stated. I go pick up my strapping at lowes, everything good up to this point. I installed the roof, went smooth. I ordered imperial rib, ABC company. I went back to Lowes a third time to order my gable end trim, and eave trim. I was there for ten minutes and was waited on by another man this time. I inquired as to where my certificate is for the tax rebate, as I did not get one with my purchase. This man told me, that is not the right color gray, you have charcoal gray instead of gray. Does not qualify for the energy star rebate. I believe I turned beet red, I again asked, are you kidding me. His response was, no I am not. Sorry. I left that store furious, without ordering my trim pieces. I am out $ 500., because a Lowe's employee ordered the wrong color!!! I know I am part at fault, as I should have double checked all there work. I told the employee I wanted the energy star roof. I wanted the credit, what do I get. Nothing!!! Thank you Lowes. I will not shop at your store ever again unless this gets resolved. It is bad enough you hire people that have never even lifted a hammer, enough is enough. People will realize such as I have the hard way, the box store is not the best store.

As far as what I would like Lowes to do, I would like something equivelant to my loss. (which I know is a pipe dream) Hire people that know what they are doing. When was the last time corporate shopped there own stores. Pay attention please.

You didn't research what you needed. I just visited the Energy Star
website, brought up the PDF that contains all the roofing products
eligible for the rebate. There are a handful of ABC metal roof
products, and the colors are shown.

The idea is for the roof to reflect energy, so it is to be expected
that charcoal gray would not meet the criteria. Darker colors absorb
more energy. That is high school science stuff, so before beating up
the Lowe's staff too much, consider all the errors that were made.

The rebate is from the government, not Lowes.
