Do Not Trust the Employees at Lowe's

I usually do all my business through Home Depot. On this particular occasion I decided to use Lowe's. I decided to order Pergo Asian Bamboo flooring, a special order. I measured my room for square footage, and remeasured, then had a contractor friend remeasure the room. My square footage was 130 Ft. I went to Lowes with this information and spoke to an employee. I told him what I wanted. After making calculations in his calculator he advised me I would need 7 boxes of product, a value of over $299.99 which entitled me to 0% financing on my Lowes credit card.
I ordered the product which was supposed to be available for in-store pick-up on April 21, 2008. I was supposed to recieve a phone call telling me that my order was in. I never did. The next day I called the store...the employee stated, "I hate it when this happens, you were supposed to get a phone call telling you that your delivery date was rescheduled." The new date was April 24. April 24 came and still no call. At 1:00 pm I called the store to find out that my order was ready. I went to the store and stood in front of a register attentively looking to the employees for assistance. 15 minutes later a girl came to the register, typed in some numbers, shuffled some papers and ignored me. After another 15 minutes I realized that the register was closed and the joke was on me. I finally got some assistance after waiting to talk to someone for 30 minutes.
They went to find my order and couldn't find it. Then they couldn't find the recieving Supervisor. Finally 1.5 hours later I had my flooring, only one of the boxes was crushed... so it had to be refunded. I brought my 6 boxes of flooring home and began to install it... half way through the installation it became obvious that there was not enough flooring to cover my room. So I made my own calculations and discovered that I infact needed 10 boxes of flooring not 7.
The next day I went to Lowes to complain and to order more flooring. Not only did they not seem to care about my woes, but they were unable to add the 4 more boxes I needed to my previous order even though their employee ordered the wrong quantity of flooring (according to the store manager). 4 more boxes doesn't fall under 0% financing on my Lowes card... which was the biggest reason why I decided to use Lowes in the first place. SO now, I have to either pay 22 % interest on 4 more boxes or find a way to get my bill high enough so that I qualify for 0 %. At the end of the day, I have learned my lesson, DO NOT TRUST THE EMPLOYEES AT LOWES!!!!!
I would like Lowes to give me the remaining boxes for free! More realistically though, I would like to see some kind of action to appease me for the time I lost due to the fact that my flooring wasn't delivered on the originally scheduled date. I had to plan my job schedule around it and in the end I lost 4 days of actual working time on my floor. Furthermore, I think that I should be able to add these next 4 boxes onto my original bill so that I qualify for 0 % financing.

You can get the remaining boxes put on your lowe;s credit card for 0%. All they have to do is call the toll free number and get it added. I'm surprised the store manager didn't know that one. I work at customer service for a Lowe's and I certainly go out of my way to help a customer.

so you think that you have problems with Lowe's here is my storey. I purched Pergo flooring for a customer and installed an entryway hall the entry to all the bedrooms, restroom, and livingroom. The customer then wanted to continue and do the livingroom.by the way this was all installed at a 45degree angle.I went back to Lowe's only to find out that the product had been discontinued. The manager of the flooring dept.Angelia, called the other stores informed me that no one had it in stock. She handed me a # for Pergo told me that I should contact them myself and have them ship the product directly to me.I have been in this business a long time and I knew this was not going to happen but I took the # and figured I would call and see if they had any available.they did not.So in trying to keep my customer happy I was trying to figure my options,This product was Pergo summer butternut, they came out with a new Pergo floor it's a different butternut, exactly the same color except they changed the locking system.I figure that I have two options I could tear it all out and start over or try to get new product and alter it on the saw to make it work,a transition strip would not be acceptable. Either way the cost was going to be excessive therefore I went back to Lowe's to see if the manager was willing to give me a bit of a price break. Her attitude was that we didn't change the product Pergo did therefore if I wanted a discount I should take it up with PERGO So anyway I returned and called Pergo again, they informed me that this product is manufactured only for Lowe's and that I could not purchace anywhere else and they would only speak to one of their representives anyway after two months of being jerked around by both Pergo and Lowe's I found ten boxes of dicontiued product in Pergo's warehouse but I need to purchase it through LOWE's so I jump in the car and drive to Moreno valley to see Angelia to pay for o it in Guess what after I did all the chasing and calling she wanted to charge me $57 dollars abox which is full retail for a discontinued product. Her responce was the same.contact Pergo, well I gave that one more try this morning and the answer was the same that I have to go through Lowe's they evan suggested changing stores. My sugestion is to stop doing business with Lowe's because we have homedepot Their prices are better anyway and as far as Pergo is concerned there is a lot of good product out there for a lot less money As for me I'm going to have to deal with a unhappy customer as a additive Pergo claims that the change in product is agreed on by both parties thanks for listening to me complain Elmer Rasmussen

I have since been in touch with a store manager who called me after my intial poisoned pen letter. They did offer to make an exception in my case and allow me to buy the remaining flooring I need at 9 % financing even though the total amount of money spent would not meet the normal criteria. I explained that I went ahead and bought the boxes I needed prior to our conversation by using our savings. I further stated to him that I did not wait longer for a response from Lowes because the items I needed are a special order, and I am on a time table. The manager stated that he would not be able to offer me any further assistance other than giving me 10 % off my next purchase of any IN STOCK item. Lowes sucks, shop at Home Depot, or anywhere else.

Special order stuff arrives when it arrives. There are no guarantees a call will be made promptly. I have ordered many things from Lowes, and experienced the same as you. This is part of the price for doing jobs yourself. If you want things done in a timely fashion, pay a contractor to do the job.
I have done many jobs that require measuring the area to be covered, KNOWING how much comes in each box, allowing for waste (common rule of thumb is 5 to 10%).
You could have verified yourself, in the store, using mental math, the number of boxes needed when the order was placed.
Lowes owes you zippity doo dah.

Live on what you make. If you cant afford to pay the full amount, wait til you can. Cash is king. If you play with the snakes, you will eventually get bit.
Good Day

It is entirely possible for the 4 boxes to be interest free for 12 months with no payments/interest. They should have offered it to you.
Call the Lowe's store and ask to speak to a MOD or the store manager, explain what happened. Ask the manager if they (only a Lowe's store can do this) can call the credit center and get the no payments added on your card.

I agree with the previous poster, and think that asking for some kind of action to "appease" you for your lost time isn't more realistic than asking for the remaining boxes for free.
I've used Pergo Asian Bamboo flooring products (excellent choice, by the way) and know there's at least 10% or more leeway for waste, even with the proper measurements. I'd also advise to open all the boxes, let them reach room temperature, and mix slats from different boxes, since there are subtle differences in color and grain. Mine's been down almost two years and still looks new.

I agree that you should be able to get the additional flooring at 0% financing. It sounds like the Lowe's salesperson did not ask all the right questions, and advised you incorrectly.
HOWEVER--You should have taken in an actual drawing of your room along with the square footage. 130 sq. ft. could equal 10x13. Or 5x 26. Or 2x65. Or 4x32.5. You get my drift. The product may not come in pieces that fit your exact dimensions.
If you're painting walls, basic square footage should suffice. But if you're putting anything on the floor, or using wallpaper, you have to remember that the product is made in specific lengths and widths.
You might also want to talk again with your "contractor friend" about his/her estimate of your square footage. Did you make it clear to this friend that you were planning to do the job yourself? Perhaps your friend thought you were going to ask him/her to do the flooring for you, and he/she was giving you a deal on the price of the flooring plus installation.
I checked this product at Lowe's.com. 7 boxes of this product would have gotten you 137.48 sq. ft. of flooring. This allows NO waste, installer(your)error, basic not fitting your dimensions.
I think there were at least 3 at fault here: Your "contractor friend" for not advising you properly; Lowe's, for not making sure your measurements matched your actual room; and mostly you, for not making sure everything was correct.
