It looks pretty clear to the average consumer who has ever purchased anything anywhere that this ad is saying 9.99 for one glass. It is time for people to take responsibility for reading and comprehending basic ads that stores put out. I work retail and am tired of people coming in yelling at hard working retail professionals about their inability to read!!!!
Dont bash macy's for your inability to read!!!

I think you should probably be embarrassed thinking you could get a set of five Lenox glasses from Macy's for 10 bucks! Then again...the glasses are tacky looking to me so you probably could get something close to them at Walmart for 10 dollars.
Fact is, YOU made the mistake...not Macy's. And they owe you nothing unless you want to return them for a refund and actually do what you said and take your money to Walmart.
English may be your first language but you certainly arent very good at reading it, comprehending it or writing it.

"I should've known it was too good to be true that I could purchase a SET of Lenox glasses from macys.com for $9.99 -- What was I thinking???"
Seems like you saved Macy's the trouble of answering!
"I'd better stick to Walmart where I can get twenty glasses for ten bucks!"
...AND found an easy solution!
Look, you made an honest mistake... but it was YOUR mistake. Macy's doesn't owe you anything.

Thanks for your support Gino and Courtdog! Actually the ad copy in the link I posted has been modified since yesterday. I also failed to post the "teaser" webpage from macys that shows both goblets and highballs that led me to this impulse buy. The original ad copy gave me the impression that I was choosing between a set of "goblets" or a set of "highballs", not choosing a quantity of one, two, or three. Some of you ask: Why purchase "2" if I thought I was getting a complete set?? -- Because I thought I could scoop up 2 sets of Lenox glasses b4 others in the free world found the bargain!!!

Your letter is very well written and easy to follow. I'm learning to try to be more clear and less verbiose in my writing skills and I do like the style of writing.
I think it's a misunderstanding and not a case of deception or bait and switch or anything like that. I just find it odd that lennox glasses could be gotten for that price of 9.99 each or even for two. Even at the outlets that would be a huge bargain!!! Lennox is something very special, in a category of it's own,And I seriously doubt your guests would be as impressed with anything Walmart has to offer in fine stemware. Not knocking Walmart. Just an observation. I think their line goes no further than anchor hocking in quality...you might find a nice design but not exquistely made to Lennox standards, but nice anyway.
I'd ask politely if I could return the two glasses, saying I misunderstood the website and what I was ordering. Maybe they'd acquiesce. If they don't, consider it a lesson learned. And a nice romantic touch for a special dinner for two. (they ARE nice glasses and I do think you have great taste). It's the make lemonaide out of lemons thing.
Good Luck to you and keep us posted!!

I checked out the address you gave. It's $15.00 per glass. I don't know how you were charged only $9.99. When I tried it out it came up to $15.00.
The mistake is yours.

First of all, a set of "five" glasses? That's ridiculous.
Second, I went to that web page you posted, and I IMMEDIATELY understood it to be $15 PER GLASS. I didn't for one second assume I would get five glasses.

Robbed by Macy's?
I also hate when a national chain comes to my house and forces me at gunpoint to give them all my money.

Now I just looked at that advertisement and I found $15.00 and it asked the quantity you want so I assumed it was $15.00 PER glass unless it has changed since you placed your order. Since they display several colors, and you pick the colors individually per $15.00, that is my interpretation of the ad. But usually two glasses are mentioned as a 'pair' and I don't see that on there either.

I think the five glasses represent the different colors. Nowhere does it say "A SET OF FIVE". I don't think it's deceptive at all.
You simply made a mistake. I can't imagine ever getting a set of five Lenox glasses for ten dollars, and it sounds like you realize that now.
Don't get your hopes up, but wouldn't it be funny if Macy's actually sent you eight more glasses?
Good luck with that.

You're right, that ad for them is a bit ambiguous. But, nowhere did it say that it was a package deal where you get 5 for 9.99. HOWEVER, you see the "QUANTITY" drop down menu? You selected 2, right? Well, you got two high balls, which is what you ordered. If you wanted 10, you would have selected 10. Sure, maybe the website could make the description more clear, but you got what you ordered.
