I found out my dishwasher was recalled due to being a fire hazard on March 12th. I called and ordered the repair part on the 13th. Within a few days I received a letter stating they were ready to make the repairs to restore my dishwasher to safe operating conditions. The letter also stated they had already mailed the parts and as soon as I received them to have a repairman correct the problem. It gave me a list of repairmen. When the parts did not arrive in the next few days I called to see why. It seems the parts are back-ordered for at least the next 2-3 weeks. I am not supposed to use my dishwasher until the repairs are done. I will be out my dishwasher for over a month at least. All maytag is willing to do is apologize for my inconvenience. We are a large family with several young children. My dishwasher is very necessary to me. This is unacceptable to me. They also offered $75 off a new maytag dishwasher. Why should I have to purchase a new dishwasher when my old one is fine except for a simple easy fix? I do not want a new dishwasher especially since I would have to spend about $350 in conjunction with the voucher. They were not prepared for the number of repair parts needed. They also evidently are in no rush to find a solution to this problem.
I was told by a supervisor that he was as high as I could go to complain with maytag. When I asked if he was the president of maytag he informed me that he was not, but the president does not handle customer complaints. Maybe it is time for the president to step up before the company crumbles around his ears. If my company made something that could possibly burn a customer's house down I would have it fixed asap... not in a month or two.
I would like my dishwasher fixed and in a timely manner. If they cannot do that then re-imburse me for the amount I paid for this dishwasher which was around $350. I do NOT want another dshwasher though so please... just fix this one. I do happen to love my maytag dishwasher. Customer service really stinks but my dishwasher does not (except for the fire hazard part!)

The difficulties you are running into came about because Maytag, being a reputable company, did not want to withhold this important information to the public. Once it was determined that the product had the potential of starting a house fire, a solution was found and made public. Maytag, however, did not have the time to create these parts for every dishwasher sold. Remember, they are one of the largest home appliance manufacturers within the world.
Whereas you are now concerned about using the dishwasher, make sure that it is never left unattended. Or better yet, with so many children, have the family gather around to do dishes after the evening meal. Some of the best times families can have with one another happen when they are working with one another.
I would suggest that asking if the gentleman you were speaking to was "the president of Maytag" was ludicrous and implies poor judgment on your behalf. I would also question your sentence stating, "They also evidently are in no rush to find a solution to this problem." Isn't that, in fact, what they have done? Just because a part is not available for you the next day does not mean the solution is not available.
