I NEED MY WASHER, CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX RIGHT NOW, ONLY 2.5 YRS OLD

My 2 1/2 year old Maytag Centennial (Commercial Technology) Washing machine has been diagnosed as needing a new "timer". The repair service has already charged me $85 plus tax to came and diagnose the problem. To make matters worse for them to come back and replace the piece will be another $179. plus tax. I cannot believe that a 2 1/2 year old Maytag washer, only used by two adults over 60 years old, can need such an expensive repair!
Upon hearing this "wonderful news," i contacted Maytag and told them how disappointed i am with this washer and asked if there was anything that they could do to help us with this repair, specifically send us the part and we would take care of the labor. I do not think this is an unfair request and yet i was told, VERY RUDELY by Justin, "the machine is out of warranty we can't do anything for you." Then I spoke with a supervisor, Tracy, who told me the same thing. NO COMPASSION, NO HELP AT ALL. Although i did tell her that i would be filing with BBB and she said that she would file on my behalf. How nice of her.
Whatever happened to companies standing behind their products? I am apalled by the unconcerned, uncaring attitude of the Whirlpool/ Maytag company. I have been buying Maytag all of my married life, thought i could depend on them, apparently i was wrong! My husband is retired and we live on a "very fixed income". I have held off on ordering the repair in hopes that you , Planet Feedback, will be able to secure that part for me.
Thanks for anything you can do.

Send me the timer for my Maytag Centennial Washer (Commercial Technology)

Model #: MVWC6E7WW0

Serial #: CY2241611

Keep me a "believer in Maytag" and keep me coming back and i will gladly share "good news" with my friends, family and coworkers

I have a 3 year old Maytag Centennial washer that the timer just went
on. I was told by my son who is an appliance mechanic that I could
replace the part myself. He also said that since the Maytag company
changed hands a few years ago that their products have gone downhill.

I bet that you can fix this yourself. My ex fixed our broken dryer
thanks to the 'net by replacing the thermostat (or something similar)
in the dryer. There are websites FULL of helpful inforamtion. Some
very good ones charge small fees for professional advice.

But they do stand behind their product. For as long as the warranty.
You asked for and were denied any special consideration. I don't see
how that is bad customer service.

Also, since your income is so limited you might give some thought to
putting a few dollars away so that life's little emergencies don't
create such a hardship for you.

Mrs. D.,

Do they not credit the diagnosis fee of $85 against the
repair fee?

Did you call around to see if there is a local repairman that works on
that Model?
