Furious with MBNA America

I'm writing to alert you to a problem I've had with a credit line issued by you. My problem concerns a payment I made recently. I hope by bringing this to your attention, the problem will be addressed. This incident has made me extremely upset.

Here's what happened: I recently paid off my balance at MBNA with a check from my Capital One Account. (Balance tranfer, basically.) MBNA cleared the payment and the check cleared Capital One. Now MBNA is claiming they returned the check because of non sufficient funds plus I am getting charged late fees, NSF fees, and additional finance charges on a account that should be paid off. MBNA has not returned or refunded the check they claim was returned for NSF, though! They cashed the check yet claim I never paid them.

I have requested a copy of the cancelled and paid check and will be consulting a lawyer over this matter if it is not resolved soon. MBNA has charged us many late fees when the payment was not late, neglected to send us bills quite a few times (fortunately we pay the bill online so our payment was not late), they have skyrocketed our interest rates and make inquiries onto our credit report so frequently it is ridiculous. Not to mention the harassment of receiving countless 'access checks' in the mail. I requested to not receive these checks and was told the only way I do that was to close my account, and there is a fee for that. (WHAT!!??!)

Here's what I want you to do: Either credit my account the amount of the check I sent ($1400) or give me back the check! I am paying MBNA interest on that $1400 plus I am paying Capitol One interest on it! I also want all late fees, NSF fees and all interest fees acrued after the payment was received refunded asap. If not, I will be consulting a matter because not only is this bank fraud, keeping my check and not creditting my account, but it is also USPS mail fraud since this has carried on through the mail.

In the future, I will avoid doing business with you. I definitely won't recommend you to others. I will be closing my account and ceasing all business with MBNA.

I hope it can be addressed and I do not have to consult a lawyer over this matter.

I'll tell you that like most credit card companies. You are provided a
credit to your account the instant that the check is received. Then
when that check goes through the electronic banking system it is found
to not have funds available, then you will be charged a return check
fee and a late fee and whatever else. You need to see why Capital One
did not pay your check. Has nothing to do with MBNA.

Sorry pal....maybe MBNA will be kind enough to remove the interest
that has accumulated..but really not their fault. Check with Capital
One, then ask them to contact MBNA and see if they will credit your
account.
