I received a bill in the mail today which contains a "late" charge that is bogus, as I did NOT receive a statement in the mail last month!! I realized this a couple of days ago and sent an electronic payment to the card through my checking account. I tried to call your customer service to discuss removing this late payment fee and your c/s person would not remotely discuss this with me until the $500 payment I sent out yesterday is posted????? I have PERFECT credit history, am NEVER late with payments on ANYTHING and I feel this is unfair treatment, extremely unfair treatment of a person who is ALWAYS on the ball with paying their debt!!!!! I am paying this card off next month as my 6 month 0% promotion is expired and NEVER pay interest on anything!!!!!! I also have my mortgage through Washington Mutual and feel free to check my payment history!!!!!!!!

I want this late fee taken off of my bill and assurance that this has NOT damaged my perfect credit!!!!!!!!

First of all when you call the customer service people at MBNA they
don't have access to your credit files. All they can see is your last
12 months of payments with them. Secondly you should call back and
req to speak to a supervisor and tell them that you never recieved
your last statement and you would like a credit back for the fee.
Just remember that the best way to get what you want from MBNA is to
be very calm and nice to whoever you get on the line. When I worked
there if someone started out a conversation by yelling at me or
accusing me of something I didn't even do I would not credit back
anything unless it was extreme circumstances such as not getting a
statement. Good luck.

It's not unusual or unreasonable to make fee adjustments after a
payment has posted. The reps are usually able to make a one time
courtesy adjustment once the payment has been received. It's nothing
to go into a frenzy over. Also, this should not hurt your credit in
any way. At the company I used to work for a customer had to miss two
consecutive payments (no payment at all for 2 billing cycles) for it
to be reported. However, it probably will forfeit any promotional
rates you have. Again though, you may negotiate this with the company
after your payment has posted.
