Card protection and confirmation

MBNA rang me to say that someone had been using my credit card fraudulently. I went through the normal security, they told me which transaction had been rejected, the value and when. Once I confirmed it wasn't mine, they cancelled the card. That is the correct order for things to happen. I've heard of several CC companies cancelling cards without informing the card holder when they suspect something is up. They're trying to do the right thing, but doing so without checking can lead to loads of inconvenience. Especially if you're abroad when they do it. So, well done MBNA.
