Vista is the Worst Operating System

My issue is with the Vista operating system. It is slow, unstable, and basically the worst operating system since Windows 98. I have 4 computers 2 with Vista and 2 with XP and the computer with XP outshine and outperform Vista in almost every category. Vista has crashed at least three times in the last 3 months. I am not talking mild issues, I talking fatal crashes.
It is slow to boot, asks you a thousand and one stupid questions, and is very slow. The two computers I have it on are brand new so it is not a hardware issue it is purely and squarely on your operating system.
I am sure that you will shuffle this letter in the recycling bin and claim that Vista is the best selling operating system out there. That is like a drug dealer (after he has murdered every other drug dealer in town) saying he has the best drugs in town. You guys are for the most part the only show in town.
If Microsoft does not fix this crappy operating system I think a Mac is in my future.
I want Microsoft to send me a fresh copy of XP, which I know works but you have to pay extra to get with new PC's. I also would like Microsoft to address the real issues they have with Vista which are many.
I am in the IT industry and have not spoken with one person who is happy with Vista (except those working for Microsoft). Remember Microsoft as easily as you got to the top you can be at the bottom. Keep building sub-standard, not properly beta-tested operating systems and you will be one of them.

I'm honestly not a fan of Vista. I have a new laptop. Actually I HAD a new laptop. It's currently being shipped back to HP because of some problem with the hard drive (originally thought to be a bad video card). It has Vista. I did get used to the new system after awhile, but I really do prefer XP. I'm not sure if the system is all that bad or it's just a matter of what I'm used to.

while Vista is a pain sometimes with all the security issues, usually I have found people are always unhappy with Vista if their computer is under a gig. Vista is so huge if you only have 512mb you can hardly turn a page. I would say the computer you bought may be the problem the store may not have told you the computer will be slow if they wont take it back I would suggest an upgrade to at least 2 gigs should fix you up.

Also, people are going to have different opinions about everything. I work at an office supply store, and so far, I don't believe I've gotten any complaints about Vista. Although I'm not full time, I pretty much see all the returns that come in. None are ever Vista.

that Vista probably sucks pretty hardcore, you can't compare it to XP. XP was far from a preferred OS when it came out and it's taken years and a buttload of patches and service packs to get it to where it is now.
I just had to re-image my laptop because of a virus and it was amazing the difference in XP from 2004 without all the updates and service packs to what it was like just before the machine crashed.
I know it sucks to be stuck with an new OS that just isn't up to snuff, but that's what happens when one company has a monopoly on the technology world.

I'm also in IT and I've heard Vista is a fine OS. I personally run Ubuntu and haven't had much time to play around with Vista but I think it will do fine with time.
Have you never used Windows ME? By far the WORST OS by Microsoft! Another thing, I would expect an IT guy to be a geek and know how to write a letter.

I purchased a new HP laptop back in March with Vista installed on it and hated it. After the whole system crashed three times in the span of a month I returned the laptop(thanks to Costco's return policy) and used that money for the shiny MacBook I'm using now. I love my Mac and have yet to have a problem with it.

Vista is known to be a memory hog. From my understanding you need at lest a gig for Vista to run normally and then you need enough memory to run your other programs normally. My recommendations is to get a computer with at least 2 gigs of memory that is upgradeable to around 4. There are other people on this site that knows more about computers than I do, and I'm sure that you will hear more from them soon.
