Oreo's New Look

I recently purchased a bag of Oreo's. I noticed the new packaging with the simple lift to open top that is re-sealable. I thought it looked neat and was convenient that you can re-seal your cookies to keep them fresh.
However, once I dunked my Oreo in milk and took a bite I was disappointed. The cookies were not fresh. They tasted like the cheap store brand cookies, not Oreos. To be more specific the cookies did not soften at all when I dunked them in milk. The 2nd (and last) cookie I tried I dunked for longer thinking that was the problem, however rather than the cookie getting soft, one side of the cookie broke off from the creme filling and was still hard when I ate it.
I had someone else try the cookies to see if it was just me and they agreed that they tasted stale. The only thing I can think is that the new packaging has something to do with the lack of freshness. The expire date on this package is weeks off. Plus, we purchased a second bag - this time your Halloween orange filled cookies - that are still packaged in the old packaging and they tasted just like the Oreo's I grew up with.
Please look into your new packaging. While the package says your cookies will stay fresh longer, in my opinion they aren't even fresh when I opened them.
Thank you for your time.

This may be a dumb question, but did you check the sell by date on the package?Oreos get stale rather qucikly. That being said,I like the new packaging. It saves me the trouble of putting the whole package into a giant freezer bag after they are opened.

I think you just got a bag of duds. Or, perhaps, you accidentaly bought the low fat Oreos. I've been buying the Oreos in the new packaging for a while, but haven't noticed any difference in taste.
Hopefully, Oreo will replace them for you.

This is why I prefer to eat Iams dog food with my Blue Heeler; the taste and consistency is always impeccable.
On a lighter note, why would anyone want to drink milk, even on a cookie?
The cookies are good, but milk is nasty.
Milk comes from the udder of a nasty cow and is designed for calves, not humans! Sort of like the first person to eat an oyster, WHY?

They are now "trans fat free" and it causes the cookie to be harder, and less flavorful.
I know this because they changed the Ritz crackers as well, and now they break apart easily and just plain stink. When I called the CS number they explained the "Crumbling crackers" that can't hold dip are this way because they changed from trans-fat free, thus causing the problem.

Sarah,
I had to go into cookie rehab years ago over Oreos so I can't say, at least not in mixed company, that Ive tested the new product.
That being said I have seen their ad and wondered how well their new packaging works.
I see we've ruled out the reduced fat variety as being the culpret.
A leak in the package idea has merit.
If I were you I would drop them another line offering the UPC Code and any other details from the specfic package that could halp them get to the bottom of this.
Good luck and do stop back and let us know what they say.
BillR.

I've seen the new Oreo packaging but haven't tried them yet. I have had Chips Ahoy in the same type packaging, and the cookies were fine. The seal seems pretty tight so I can't imagine it not keeping the cookies fresh. The alternative, however, is unthinkable... could Nabisco have possibly tampered with the recipe?
Let us know what they say.
