Dear Makers of Oreo cookies; We LOVE OREO COOKIES...except for the gook in the middle. Once,
a very long time ago in a small town in New mexico, I found a package of OreoCookies ...without gook,
free of middle(grease), FREE! FREE!...But only once a very long time ago
in a little town in New mexico.
Now, alas, if we do buy them
[which is'nt that often as they need to be renovated] we have a little bowl between us for the throw away gook.
*%#$@*#@!!Gook is fat and sugar [+ being nasty] and people are always trying to cut down.
You guys have a NEW PRODUCT at your very finger tips! REDUCED CALORIE OREOS[YUM]i.e.,GOOK FREE!

Wasn't Oreo's with no "gook" one of the signs of the Apocolypse?

Is it Nabisco that makes those 100 calorie packs? Their oreo
imitations are good...

get it?

the "gook" aka creme filling is full of fat and sugar and the cookies
themselves are a health food? I would say that the main source of the
sugar and the fat and the calories are the cookies themselves. And
here's a novel idea--they sell other kinds of cookies. Perhaps you
should explore that option.

i'm not a cookie person at all by eydie Sun November 12, 2006 @ 11:56 AM

by mary jo Posted Thu November 9, 2006 @ 4:57 PM

This reminds me of a year or so ago when I saw on Regis and Kelly that
the makers of Oreos were trying to make them without transfats. The
only problem was that the cream wouldnt harden and the cookies kept
falling apart. People started having a fit that they were messing with
them and I havent heard a thing since about them changing them.

However..if you only like the chocolate part then get the 100 calorie
packs. They taste just like the chocolate cookie part and not only do
you not have to deal with the cream, but you also only get 100
calories and dont have to worry about gaining weight.

anyway...it's "stuf"! ;)

by Giselle Posted Tue November 7, 2006 @ 12:38 PM

Don't they make an Oreo crisp product now that is basically the black
cookie part in a smaller, lighter (lighter not "liter") form? They are
like little crackers. I know I saw them a year or so ago. I don't know
if they still make them. If not, you can buy an oreo pie crust (no
white gook) and break off chunks of that.

by Sava Posted Tue November 7, 2006 @ 12:17 PM

What the heck good are Oreos without the "gook"?!?!? And will
removing the "gook" really make them "reduced calorie"? No, because
the cookie part has plenty of calories and sugar all by itself! I
think most of the allure of Oreos is the combo of the cookie and cream
in the middle, why choose to eat a cookie reknowned for the
cookie/middle duo if you're going to reject the middle?

And did I miss something? How does the middle part of the Oreo equate
to grease? What IS the middle comprised of, anyway? :D

Kraft makes Oreo Handi-Snacks and the cream and the cookies are
separate. I want to say that it's like $5 for 15 of them. The
cookies are a little smaller but they sure a yummi! As a matter of
fact, this letter made me crave them! hehe I like to eat the cookies
and then the cream. :)

Is nothing sacred ? Now we need "gook" free oreos... depriving future
generations of the innate art form of twisting the cooking oh so
gently with just enough force to leave one side full of gook to scrape
off with our teeth and lick off the rest. It's an art form to not break
the cookies or have half gook on each side dosen't count!

What's next? BP without J? Snap and Crackle without PoP? Keebler
without Elves?

Stick to your guns Oreo people, without the gook you are nothing more
than a chocolate cookie.
-----------------------------------------------------
Ok Seriously folks, Nabisco DOES make a cookie called "Nabisco Famous
Chocolate Wafers" Basically Oreo's without the gook.

Your use of the word 'gook' is excellent, though, and a perfect
description.

I think the "*%#$@*#@!!Gook" has another purpose. It collects all the
dark brown chunks out of your teeth. It's really a tasty tooth
squeegee. Oreos already leave a large amount of chocolate
particulates even with the final gook process.

But hey, to each his/her own.

Oreo gook is ewwww so I agree.

Whenever I eat Oreo's I always have to waste precious cookie eating
time scraping out that crisco concoction that they layer in there! And
then I always end up with a big disgusting pile of gook. I mean I
understand that people love the gook but what about anti-gook people?

I want gook free Oreo's too Nabisco!

Given Oreo's seeming willingess to sell just about every imaginable
combination of flavor, color, shape, size and coating, it does seem
odd that naked oreos have not carved a hole int eh shelves, especially
given the continued popularity of the Famous Chocolate Wafers, which i
would recommend you try:

http://www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?s=product&m=product/Product_displa
y&Site=1&Product=4400000159

They're pretty close to Oreos. Then again, they are Nabisco
brand-mates, perhaps they don't want to cannibalize themselves.

I would also second the vote for trying the organic brands, most Oreo
knockoffs are vanilla-soaked pucks, but I had some brand that was
organic, trans-fat-free, and delicious, the best part was the cream
popped right off.

Well they do have those 100 calorie snack packs of just the outer
part, its just not round and there is no "gook" in it, then you could
always buy their oreo cereal, no gook on that lol.

Here's something fun to do:

I guess I'm kind of surprised that Nabisco DOESN'T make Oreos like
this. Esp. with people being more health conscious.

Obviously they wouldn't be sandwich cookies anymore, but why couldn't
they sell just the chocolate part?

Personally, I LOOOOVE the Double Stuff ones - I just try not to think
about whatever the heck it is in the middle when I eat them. But the
filling is the best part!

I will add my amazement to everyone else that someone actually prefers
the cookie to the filling ;-) Not a slam on you at all - just that the
filling seems to be the whole attraction of Oreos! I actually don't
know if they still make them, but there was once a chocolate wafer
cookie made by Nabisco (I think they were just called Chocolate
Wafers) that tasted similar to Oreos without the filling. I suggest
you look for those.

by Buddy Posted Mon November 6, 2006 @ 7:15 AM

Isn't the cream the whole reason for buying the cookies?

Reply

by lovescats Posted Mon November 6, 2006 @ 1:42 AM

Keep in mind that the "gook" may be all fat and sugar but the cookie
part contains hydrogenated oil which is not good for you either. From
a health point of view no part of this cookie is good for you but
that's what makes them so delicious.

by mary jo Posted Mon November 6, 2006 @ 12:29 AM

The cream is the reward for eating the bitter chocolate cookies!!

Whats wrong with you?!?! ROFL!!! Thats the best part of the Oreo!! I
havent had one in a long time now but I used to only buy Double Stuff
and then add two cookies together!

Of course...that could be why I am on a diet now. ROFL!

The white stuff.
The white stuff.

The first one was a sweet one
Second one was a blast
Soon I finished off the bag, ate 'em up real fast
You can see 'em in my teeth
Tell it when I talk
Had so many my pancreas just went into shock

I love the white stuff baby
In the middle of an Oreo
I love the white stuff baby
It's the most delicious thing I know

I've had a zillion or two
In my life, they're so right
My teeth are all rotted clear thruough
But who cares? Whaat else am I supposed to do?

I love the white stuff baby
In the middle of an Oreo
I love the white stuff baby
It's the most delicious thing I know

Oh oh oh oh oh, oh Oreo
Oh oh oh oh oh, the white stuff
Oh oh oh oh oh, oh Oreo
What's in the middle? The white stuff

The first time that I tried it
Got a big sugar buzz
Nothing gets me high as that sandwich cookie does
But I love the filling most
I rub it on my roast
Mix it in with my coffee and spread it on my toast

I love the white stuff baby
In the middle of an Oreo
I love the white stuff baby
It's the most delicious thing I know

Might get a pimple or two
Well, so what? It's all right
Now Twinkies and Ding Dongs won't do
All I need...You know what it is

Oh oh oh oh oh, oh Oreo
Oh oh oh oh oh, the white stuff
Oh oh oh oh oh, oh Oreo
What's in the middle? The white stuff!

Go to your local organic food store (Whole Foods) or food co-op and
get the organic version of Oreos. The white creamy stuff in the
middle is actually delicious and has a much different texture than the
crisco-and-sugar crap that Oreo-brand cookies have. The organic
versions are out-of-this-world delicious.

Also, you can buy the chocolate Oreo cookie part (sans white gook) if
you go to your store's baking aisle -- you can buy a box of the cookie
crumbles to use for pie crusts and for other dessert recipes. So just
buy the box and eat the cookie pieces by the handful or with a spoon.

For most people, the filling (or "gook") is the whole reason for
buying the cookie.

Oreo does have a reduced calorie cookie, however. It's called the 100
Calorie Pack, located in the cookie section.
