NYSC -- Offer more competitive rates

I am going to be in NJ for six weeks and wanted to join a gym for that length of time (I have no problem paying for two months).

I went to the new New York Sports Club located in Westwood, NJ thinking that club would be a great place to get in shape after having my twins.

Well, their month to month membership fee is EXPENSIVE! $200 to join and $80 a month, plus $39.00 processing fee. Soooo...$400 for two months!

People were nice, and even gave me a free trial week. So NYSC is hiring right, they are just charging a lot more than their competition.

So -- I walked a few blocks and entered Westwood Health and Fitness. I quickly became a short term member there because the facilities were great and there was no fee to join and no processing fee -- just an $80 monthly fee.

I know I am not NYSC's target consumer with my short-term need, but you never know when I might move back East and I have a lot of friends in NYC that will hear this story.

My suggestion to NYSC is to offer more competitive rates.

Or, if not more competitive rates as far as long-term packages go,
offer some sort of pro-rated or no-joiner's fee to someone who just
wants to work out for two months while they're working/staying in an
area.

Good suggestion!
