I am 1 yr into a 2 yr contract with Nextel. The bad part is, I cannot use my phone 90% of the time because of dropped calls,and/or no service. I recently called customer service to complain that Im paying for a service that is crap. She said my service area is rated "good". For my inconvinence, I was given 40 free min. Big deal,,I have 5000 I cant use now. Then the agent said she could refund 35. bucks. What I really want I told her is to be released from my contract, since I cannot use the phone. When I was in a serious car accident, I couldnt even call for help!!! The call was breaking up. She transfered me to Tech. support and I was rudely told that they would NOT let me out of the contract. Its ok for me to pay for no service,,,,I dont get it.
This is even better:
A couple weeks later, I get a text msg. saying that my payment has been received, and that my bank acct would be debited 5,389,762.79!!!!! I certainly didnt authorize this,,their service is no where near this quality for that amount of money. When I again called customer service, I was told their computers were down and they couldnt help me with this right now,,,of course they couldnt!!
Someone please get me out of this contract!!! My 8 year relationship with Nextel has soured. I no longer wish to be a part of them.
Release me from my contract.

I've had the same issue with another wireless customer. I called them and advised them I was going to contact the Atty. General of Texas with a complaint that they were not providing the service I was paying for. A few weeks later, I got a phone call from the company president's secretary advising me that they would willing cancel my contract as I had earlier requested and I would not have to pay the cancellation fee as I was originally told. They also requested that I not contact the Atty. General....

So.....
You have had them for 8 years and now 1 year into a 2 year contract, you now realize they stink? Did something change? Why is service bad now after having them for 8 years?
Did the bank debit go through? I mean, you state their service is not worth 5 million, but is it worth $40/month?
If you have $5 million in your account, I would think you have enough to cover etfs. If the service is that bad, cancel and pay the etf. If you do not have $5 million in your account to cover the etf, then submit a trouble ticket to find out why service has degraded now considering your 8 year relationship.
Or maybe, just pay the etf and go with a different provider. Paying for mediocre or no service for the length of the contract will cost you more in the long term.

I'm sure the $5 million mistake will be removed, I doubt your two year contract justifies a bill that high. Wouldn't cancelling a two year contract mean some kind of early termination penalty?

account retention.
What changed with the service to make it so bad? It was (apparently) fine in the first year.

"I certainly didnt authorize this,,their service is no where near this quality for that amount of money."
Would you have been ABLE to authorize $5,389,762.79???... and is ANY service worth that amount of money?
