False Advertising

There is a commercial running for Nextel for the i580 for $49.99. I went into the store and told them that was what I wanted and she said it was incorrect and that at least FOUR other people had come in asking for that phone at that price. She told me to call Nextel and tell them. I contacted Sales first and they said the phone was 279.99 and they couldn't give it to me for the advertised price. She told me to check online. I did, it was $279.99. I called customer serivce then and they said that was not right, the phone was $279.99. I asked to speak to a manager and after being on hold for a while, the rep came back and said her manager said if it was new service then you could have the phone for $49.99 which is not what it says on the website, (for new service it still says the phone is $279.99) so I know they are not telling the truth. They knew I was an exisiting customer.

I would like Nextel to let me upgrade my phone to the i580 per their advertisement. If it was a mistake, then they need to honor their error. It is false advertising.

I've seen this commercial, and if you pay attention, at the end it
says "phones STARTING AT $49.99." I guess if you're not paying close
attention you might think the other phone was that price, but that's
what I saw.

Next time you see the commercial pay closer attention. The commecial
advertises the i580, but at the end the commercial has a tag for the
i670 @$49.99. This is a lower end phone.

Hate to break it to ya buddy but just as they explained this to you,
you only get that price when you sign up for a new year of service.
What alot of people just don't get is that you get the phones cheaper
when you purchase it with a contract exstension when your are
eligible. Cmon, it's not rocket science. If you look at the phone on
the site at
http://www.getnextelnow.com/Shop/SelectPhone.aspx?PhonePriceID=2625 it
tells you right there the price and to the right of the web page "All
discount prices available with 2-yr agreement." Stop trying to cop a
high priced phone when its obvious you can't afford it.

Umm...the website listed it as $279.99, and customer service "said
that was not right, the phone was $279.99." How can it be "not right"
when both prices are the same? I thought this was a typo, but then
later in the later, it says again: "if it was new service then you
could have the phone for $49.99 which is not what it says on the
website, (for new service it still says the phone is $279.99) so I
know they are not telling the truth." Huh?!?
