Norwegian Cruise Lines Made Our Honeymoon Unpleasant

Write a Letter to this Company
My Wife and I chose NCl because we heard that the staff was friendly and the dinning was care free and leasurly. Boy were we wrong. Every place we went on the ship there were waiters and waitress asking us if we wanted a cocktail. When we would say no, another staff member would come up to us 5 minutes latter and ask us again.
Then if we did order a drink, they would say to us, "Why not make it a double". I have never been pressed sohard to spend money in all my life.
We signed up for the honeymoon package which included appetizers sent to our room one night. The apetizers that were sent to our room were hot appetizers, served cold and one of them got my wife very ill.
The female dressing room of the spa was unsanitary, and when we did decide to go for an expensive spa treatment we were almost held against our will until we decided to by further treatments.
Not to mention that we received a call from NCL about a week before our cruise stating that one of the 4 destinations we were going to, British Columbia would be canceled because of engine trouble. They offered us a $50.00 coupon for our troubles. MY Wife and I were going to take our entire honeymoon to British Columbia and only decided to go on this cruise because it stopped in British Columbia. We called NCL to complain and they said that they would offer a $50.00 credit or they could give us a refund on our trip. We informed them that we could not reschedule the cruise because it was a honeymoon and that a $50.00 credit was not acceptable for missing 25% of the cruises destinations.
Spending the last night on the cruise with the staff constantly harrassing us to spend money cost each of us way more then $50.00. It wouldn't be so bad if we were in a beutiful city like British Columbia but we would up spending upwards to 300$ on the cruise ship because there was nothing else to do.
I would like Norwegian Cruise Lines to write My wife and I an appology for ruining our honeymoon. This was supposed to be a trip that we would never forget and instead we got a very expensive trip in which we were harrassed to constantly send money. A trip in which we oly received 75% of what we paid for.

When I started reading this I really wanted to feel sorry for you, esp since the Alaska cruise is something I have wanted to go on for years. In fact, I was booked on one in May with my best friend but we have both been laid off. But that's not what I wanted to say, What i wanted to say is that your expectations are unrealistic for cruises.
Everyone knows that the cruise lines make very little to nothing on the cost of the cruise, the money they make is in the casino, drinks, spa services ect. Therefor it would be quite obvious that they would be pushing these services on you, esp alchohal.
As for the british columbia part, I assume your stop was in Victoria, I find it amazing that they offered you a full refund. If it was such an important part of your trip you could have rescheduled. Just because it\s your honeymoon does not mean it has to be that day.
Also many people don't get the option of knowing in advance it won\t be available. The port going into Victoria is right at the start of the Juan de Fuca and currents can be increadibly difficult for all sizes of ships. They have had many ports cancelled because winds are too high and it\s too difficult to manuveur into the harbour. These people end up an extra day at sea, never having the option of rebooking or getting credit.
I think you recieved what u paid for, which was The days at sea, with free room, board, entertainment and service. You recieved 3/4 ports and they offered 2 acceptable soulutions to the lack of the additional port.
The last thing I want to point out is that all the cruise lines now offer anytime dining, just so you know. Cruises are very difficult things to book if you have never been on one, you should throughougly research all the lines for the best fit.

I'm curious..when was this cruise? The British Columbia stop is part of the Alaska itinerary and I believe NCL stops this run in September and doesn't start it again until April or May.

It sounds like the people offering you drinks were trying to serve you.
Along with this, I agree with other posters that since you were informed ahead of time, and had the opportunity for a 100% refund, it is your own problem that you "paid for a trip you received 75% of".

But BEFORE the cruise they told you that they weren't going to a port, and offered to refund all your money. You boarded the ship knowing you weren't going to be going to BC(Vancouver I would assume). So, they owe you nothing for that. I realize it was your honeymoon, and that is special, but the rest of the world still is on it's normal schedule.
I was on a NCL in May, and got no pressure really at all. A smile, and a "no thank you" worked the few times I was approached to buy anything. Yes, the spa people can be pushy, but you can indeed leave when you are done.
You wife getting sick should have been reported right away, did you?

If you read your contract of carriage, you will see that they can change ports at anytime. The most they will give you back is a refund of the port charges. It's suprising that they offered you a full refund and very generous.
Alcohol sales are a fact of life on cruise ships, it's one way that they make their money. Other than that, you had a few minor issues which could have been handled if you addressed them with the purser.

First of all congratulations to you and your wife.
Second, they offered to refund the trip you should have taken their offer then immedidately got online and found a nice package to British Columbia through one of the numerous travel/booking sites. You said that BC was the main reason you were taking the cruise anyway so why not spend more time there. There are so many things to do in BC and who knows, you may have found a hotel manager who sympathized with you and offer you some perks.
The other issues such as the unsanitary spa dressing room and the appetizers that you say made your wife ill, should have been reported immediately to the purser. Especially the appetizer issue because more passengers may have gotten ill if served the same ones.
I understand your disappointment but on the other hand had you done some quick thinking you could have recieved a refund and still gone to BC.

but you declined. Cancelling stops is something though unfortunate, does happen.
To me, if you accepted the refund for the trip, it should have been easy to find last minute accomodations and something to do in a beutiful city of 360 thousand square miles.

Ruined your honeymoon? But wouldn't meeting such vixens as Barbi Benton or Adrienne Barbeau make any vacation the best one ever?
Did you get to see a Charo show? She's awesome. And actually a classically trained and extremely gifted classical guitarist.
I don't know why you were letting those waiters bother you so much. Isaak -- he's the bartender -- he would have taken care of it if you'd just let him know it was bothering you.

hate to break it to you - but BC is a province, not a city
Also, they cannot FORCE you to spend money. I have been on many cruises and I have NEVER felt the need to spend money. Just say no. There are so many activities to do that don't cost anything so I have no idea how you were forved to spend $300 because you were bored.

I have been on many cruises. They will ask you if you want a drink. They are there to serve you, they do not know if someone asked you 5 minutes prior if you wanted anything. They are probably told to ask.
Since you bought the drinks before, they are going to ask you if you want more.
No matter how many times I am asked they never get spa treatments out of me or my wife, nobody can make you spend money you dont want to.
I never understand the point of a letter of apology. Will it be framed and be hung next to your wedding picture? Does that make it right?
If you dont want expensive, try carnival. That is the ship we always go on.
Good Day
