Wonderful Staff Member at Office Depot!

Posted Sat June 2, 2007 12:00 pm, by Amie K. written to Office Depot, Inc.

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

I am writing to compliment a member of your staff. This is regarding Cameron at the store located at 2895 Radcliff Avenue Se Grand Rapids MI 49512.

Yesterday, I used your online site to upload a flier that we needed printed for a festival that I will attend this morning. Our company, MSM has a business account with you, and we used this account to order the fliers online and to pay for them. The website showed that the order was placed, and that we could pick up the fliers in 4 hours. This was at 3 PM.

When I went to the store at 7:45PM, I was dismayed to learn from the sales clerk at the print desk that nothing had come over and our fliers were not ready. On a more careful examination however, our fliers HAD in fact been sent over, he just didn't get them printed up! He claimed he didn't know how to do this, and called another employee over to help. With no apology he said he would have the fliers done in about 20 minutes and we could come back. My associate Rebecca and I, decided to wait at the store. In the meantime, we also wanted to speak to a manager.

After walking for a minute, we found a friendly young lady doing some paperwork, and asked her if she could find a manager for us to speak to. She introduced herself as Cameron and said she was the manager and would be glad to help. I then explained the situation, explained that we had a business account, and often used Office Depot for our business needs. She immediately apologized and got right onto th situation. She went back immediately to see what she could do to rectify the situation.

She offered Rebecca and myself drinks, and promised to have the fliers ready in 10 minutes. She also agreed to offer us half off of our printing order due to this problem, and our company needing the order for a Saturday festival. I was very impressed with her attitude, friendliness and cooperation, and really wanted to compliment Office Depot on knowing how to treat customers. Especially those with business accounts. I walked out of the store feeling as if I and my company were special people, and that we had been treated more than fairly thanks to Cameron.

Thanks Office Depot, and please thank Cameron for us. She is an asset to your company and you should be pleased to have her! I will love to go back to this store, just to work with her again!

of why speaking to a manager at the time of the incident is sound
advice.

And I agree with p.d.; I handle printing orders for the company I work
for, and if I send a file over to our printing company, I always call
to make sure it was received. Wasn't it Ronald Reagan who said,
"Trust, but verify."? (That's what Law & Order SVU told me anyways.)

This is an absolutely great letter! Not only is it well written, but
it addresses and acknowledges the excellent commitment to customer
service this store showed. I also agree with the previous
post...having worked in that field myself, the suggestions make a lot
of sense and helps them do their job better and the customer get the
results intended.
Thanks for sharing this one!

Very nice letter, Amie.

I have a suggestion, however. I work at OD, sometimes in the copy
center.

I suggest you call the store any time you send an order through the
system. Sometimes it gets so busy that we don't always have the time
to check the computer to see if an order has come through.

Also, we may not be able to do the job when a customer wants it done.
Sometimes there are just so many jobs that it may not get done in
time. Or it could be that machines are down. There have been 2 times
since I've been with the company that ALL the machines are down. Talk
about a nightmare!

One more thing. It's a good idea to call just to have the associate
print a sample out to make sure it's coming out ok. You just never
know. I've caught spelling errors on originals myself.
