Horrible Service

My fiancee and I rarely have an opportunity to go to lunch together so we decided to stop and have lunch at Olive Garden. When we got there we were completely ignored for twenty minutes. Our waiter was at another table flirting with two young girls. When we finally got his attention he claimed that "he was swamped." He took our order and then did not come back with salad or bread sticks. Every table around us had both and more salad and bread sticks were coming out of the kitchen, so they can't say they were out. My meal came out after 45 minutes and I still had not received salad, soup, or bread sticks. The meal wasn't even brought out by our waiter! The man that brought it out said that our waiter must have gotten confused. I don't think he was confused. I think he knew we were angry and he didn't want to return to our table. It was such a bad experience that we left.

What should be done is the waiter in question should lose his job, but I know that is not going to happen. I would like an apology for wasting my time. Time is money.

i hit enter instead of tab, and it posted before i was done. :-(

I've personally seen that the managers can be quite willing to work
with customers over issues.

when i was home on leave once visiting my family we had an "issue" at
the local olive garden - a waiter tripped and dropped plates of food,
and mom got splattered.

we were comped for about $75 - the cost of drycleaning and buying new
clothes if they couldn't be repaired.

they bent over backwards for us.
our server of course was tipped based on the original price of the
meal, the other server was very sweet in his apology and personally
came back to see if everything was ok after the meal.

of course these days mom sits by the window and laughs and says we get
to sit on the aisle side in case someone trips. (it's become a bit of
a joke in the family)

When you were ignored for 20 minutes, did you think it was going to
get any better.

I would have left after 5 if I went to restaurants, but thats just
me.

Olive garden is the mcdonalds of italian food anyways

Call and speak with the manager. The service you describe sounds
unacceptable, but speaking with someone at the store level can usually
yield a discount or coupons, etc.

Also, the person you describe may be an expeditor or expo runner. They
work in the kitchen and organize everything. In some restaurants, they
even bring it out.

than the original server to bring out the food. It seems to be the
trend. Personally, I don't like it. I prefer to nurture that little
relationship that has been growing since the first happy introduction.

Did you ask to speak to a manager at anytime during your meal?
