Horrible Service !!

My family and I went to lunch at Olive Garden today, around noon time. It was my daughter's last day of school. There wasn't much of a wait, which was good considering we had 10 people in my party. Yet after sitting down it was horrible service, that I have never encountered at Olive Garden before the dozens of times I've ate there !! They took our drink orders and got mine wrong. Then they brought out bread sticks and salad and gave 1 bowl of salad for 10 people and on top of that, 3 of those 10 people ordered the all u can eat bread, soup, & SALAD ! I went to Olive Garden on my lunch break and if I go over an hour a little bit it's fine, but after waiting for my parties food for close to 1 hour, I finally had to leave. I couldn't even stay until the food was served, which is unacceptable ! We were never updated on the progress of our food, we had a 5 and 4 year old who simply ordered chicken and fries and that was never even brought out, no apologies made for the long wait or anything.

I would greatly appreciate this situation looked into that would cause this type of service to go on at such a fine establishment. I would also like my family and I treated to a few meals on the house considering I couldn't even stay and finish the meal with my own family. I have no idea when the food finally arrived, yet if I stayed the entire time, it could have been 2 hours minimum, maybe longer !!

Thank Your for looking into this for me and I would appreciate an urgent response to this communication !!

Speaking from a servers point of view lunch time is a very very busy
time for us and to stroll in there with a party of 10, you are going
to have to wait. Lunch time is rush time so you are constantly getting
new tables and food coming up and to be quite honest with you,
stopping at that table of 10 slows you wayyyyyyy down. Imagine have 7
other tables of people and then stopping to have 10 people sit and
decide what they want to drink, or eat, usually its a very long
process. Your food is made in the order it is put in, if 15 tables are
before you, then they will all get their food first. Just think of all
the people there on their lunch break who had to wait behind your huge
order!

P.S. Olive Garden is awesome about their customer service [[ I dont
work for them but had an issue and addressed it WHILE at the resturant
]] They gave me a 50 dollar gift card for 2 people, so maybe you
should have talked to a manager while you were there, or if you were
in a crunch for time, another one in your party could have brought it
to the servers attention that you had to take off due to work, im sure
they would have made up for it!

good lord. this is the kind of thing I'm usually talking about.

it doesn't matter if there were kids in your party. everyone deserves
good service and age has nothing to do with it.

for a little insight, two of my roommates are grill cooks (at a
cracker barrel). ten tickets is a HELL of a job, especially at lunch;
they probably had one cook on and someone dipping (which means plating
items that are on the steam line, like vegetables and probably most of
the pasta sauce). yes, it's going to take a while, and yes, you
SHOULD have told them you were on lunch. many places have a "crunch
lunch" (15-20 minutes or less during lunch hours) and WILL accommodate
you if you ask.

like everyone else said, no way in heck do you AND your entire family
(army?) deserve anything for free. just speak up next time instead of
doing it later on the internet!

While I agree that the events may have taken place as stated, its
still a mystery to me why people cannot open their mouths to complain
WHILE AT THE RESTAURANT but instead wait until they leave to write a
letter asking to be comped.

I understand that this was your lunch hour, but on your way out you
could have asked to speak to the manager if he/she was there to relay
this incident. it would probably have taken just a few more minutes
and your party may have gotten better service and probably part of
their meal comped.

Echoing Harley's last comment. If you had mentioned to the waitress
that you were on your lunch hour, your service might have been
quicker. Restaurants know that lunch hour patrons can be good
customers, but they're in a rush. By you dining with a 4 & a 5 year
old, you don't fit the mold of a lunch-break customer, so she may have
been completely unaware.

A wrong drink and a long wait for a party of 10 does not equal a few
free meals for you and your family. As far as the salad goes, they
will bring you more, just ask.

When you were seated did you tell your server or the hostess about
being on your lunch hour? That way they could have accomodated you a
bit better.

I dont know how entitled you are to have a few meals on the house... I
think that it probably would have been better to talk to management
before you left. I think they would have been more sympathetic and
understanding. I also hope you didn't pay for the meal if you didnt
receive it. In the future though, I would recommend making more time
for a lunch such as this.
I don't think the drink and the salad issue have a place in this
letter, to be honest. Those things can be quickly corrected without a
manager. Just ask for your original drink and more salad.
The Olive Garden is my sons favorite restaurant. And everytime we go,
at least once during our meal,a manager comes by to ask how our meal
was. Its always fantastic. I love the Olive Garden.

heavily staffed. The wait time for a party of 10 would be a little
longer than usual, but they should have kept you informed of the
progress. Had you left the complaint at that, Olive Garden would
probably have offered you something as a goodwill gesture. Your
shameless request for "a few meals on the house" should get you a form
apology letter.

You want a few meals on the house? You've been there "dozens" of
times and haven't had any problems worth noting, but one slow lunch
period (and 10 people in your party) and you're demanding free food?

You had me on your side until that demand.
