How Dare You, Oriental Trading!

I ordered item # IN-24/12980. Here's is the description of the item. 5 3/8" 12-Oz. Crazy Glow™ Glasses. Easy to activate! Glow swirls and twirls around the cup. Boxed. Glows up to 6 hours. NO WHERE does it say ONE use ONLY. How can you charge people $29.99 a dozen and NOT tell them they are throwing their money in the garbage after one use? I am SO surprised with this company. I am usually satisfied any time I make an order but this is an outrage! In this day and age when money is tight and one splurges for her husbands 60 birthday, well, I'm so upset. This has left a VERY bad taste in my mouth towards this company. Sorry to say I doubt I will be using you again. PLUS, if an item was supposed to be delivered thru FED EX, why was it put off to the USPS who cannot be depended upon? I just hope the rest of this order arrives when it's supposed to and not after my husbands birthday!

I would like to see a better description of this item whereas people are not mislead into thinking for $29.99 they will be able to reuse this item. I am SO annoyed!!!!

I don't mean to be rude, but it is kind of common knowledge that glow
sticks (or other glowing type items) are a one-time use item. It
isn't really Oriental Trading's fault, that is just the nature of the
product.

I have found Oriental Trading lacking with several products like this.
Yes, they have cheap, imported from China products. But too many
things break after moments of use or don't work at all. Might as well
flush your money down the toilet when you order from Oriental Trading
- just throwaway stuff that you end up tossing at the beginning of the
party - doesn't last to the end. I'm with you being annoyed!!!!

I LOVE Oriental Trading! When I was in sixth grade I got to had a
sixties themed sleepover and was able to pick out the coolest things!
I got yellow smiley faced mugs, temporary tattoos and mini plush
aliens (don't ask - they were in the 'themed' section so of course
little stuffed aliens are straight up groovy)

When I first read your letter I was picturing funny looking eyeball
glasses, not like cups. When I was younger it used to break my heart
when the glow died from my glow sticks. If you keep them in the
freezer when not in use (perfect for a frosty mug) they can glow for
days!

They are just like the stupid glow sticks and necklaces that little
kids run around whipping at each other on the 4th of July. They
contain a chemical that glows when activated. There is no way of
turning them on and off.

And just as an FYI, everything OTC sells is cheap, throw-away garbage.
It's intended for one time use at parties and events, not keepsakes
and memorabilia.

If you didn't understand what you were buying or how they worked, you
should have checked before parting with your hard-earned dollars.

Why would someone by MA Cunningham Mon May 4, 2009 @ 11:25 AM

One their website there are reviews written regarding these glasses
and one reads:
"I purchased 7 dozen of these for my son's birthday party and they
were a hit! The only downfall is that the cups are kinda hard to pop
and get to glow, but once you get the hang of it they're GREAT!
Another thing, the cups are narrow and don't hold much in them once
you fill with ice, but if you're going for the GLOW....they are a good
investment!"

Is it possible you did not get them to "pop" all the way. This person
did write that it was difficult to do. And if it glowed for a limited
time less than 6hrs maybe all the glow material was not released.

(Wow 7 doz she bought...if my calculations are correct that's $210
just in Glow Glassware...whew...msut have been a great party!)

These look like advanced glowsticks... which stop glowing after a
while.

At $29.99 for a dozen that makes them $2.50 each. Do you really think
they would be reusable at that price?

"Glows up to 6 hours." That tells me that after 6 hours, it's done.
