Any chance of seeing Crystal Pepsi again?

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have been a fan of Pepsi-brand soft drinks for most of my life and I definitely haven't anything negative to say about any of the products. I would, however, like to ask why you chose to discontinue Crystal Pepsi.

My first guess as to why Crystal Pepsi had such a short lifespan is that perhaps it seemed unpopular at the time. But I and many I know found it to be a wonderful beverage and definitely a credit to the stunning flavors Pepsi is capable of creating, and the aforementioned fans of the delectable Crystal Pepsi were sad to see it leave the Pepsi family.

Have you ever considered bringing back Crystal Pepsi, even if only temporarily to see if it would yield a more positive and popular outcome? I know, for example, Vanilla Coke was re-released back into stores after many years of hiatus and lots of people were exceedingly pleased by this. I realize you may not necessarily want to follow your rival's example, but I know lots and lots of people were big fans of the crystal drink Pepsi once produced.

I surely am no businessperson, which is why this is merely a suggestion, or at least something to think about. I do, however, think that Pepsi's popularity may go back up as you appeal to the 'retro' demographic by reviving a 'lost' drink that some of us grew up on. Thank you very much for your time.

I was just talking about Crystal Pepsi with co-workers the other day!
I think I was 11 or 12 when it came out and I thought it was SO good.
I don't drink soda very much anymore, but if they brought it back, I
would buy some!

Good letter!

If you REALLY want some, there are places where you can still get it.

OK, so they're 16 year old bottles of the stuff. Can't still be good,
can it?

I like the idea of this suggestion, people certainly do relate to soda
flavors, and companies are aware that tastes do change over time. I
wrote a similar letter way back in the dark ages (1970's). Pepsi
marketed a soda called "Aspen" that was a tart green apple soda our
frat used for it's signature drink. Mixed with Vodka and a wedge of
lime it bacame the rage on campus. The answer I got was that it wasn't
selling well and it could someday re-emerge.

Anyway, I do hope they respond and possibly do a test market, who
knows? You might just luck out!

I'm with you!! I can't drink Regular Pepsi, something in it makes me
sick. BADLY! (Funny, I can, and do, drink Coke.) But I LOVED (and
could drink it) the Diet Crystal. Didn't like the regular. Too
sweet. I hope you hear back from them. I would buy it if i say it.
Diet of course! As slong as they don't use that Splenda crap!

Of course, the ironic thing is that even if they do rerelease Crystal
Pepsi, you still won't get the chance to see it again. It's
transparent.

Thank you! You've been a wonderful audience. I'll be here all week.

I vaguely remember this product, but for the life of me, I can't
remember when it was out. I'm going to guess and say the very late
1980s or perhaps 1990 or 1991?

I remember liking it pretty well too.

Please come back and let us know if they respond.

I remember Pepsi Free being mentioned in Back to the Future II. I
don't remember liking the Crystal stuff, but it would be fun to see it
again.

I remember being disappointed too when they stopped making it after it
was only around briefly. I don't think it was that long ago, but then
I'm showing my age!

I agree it would be nice to see it again, if only for another brief
time.

Well this certainly brings back memories of my misspent youth!
It's funny, at the time I hated the stuff, but the whole time I was
reading your (very well-written) letter I was thinking, "Heck yes,
they should totally bring that back!" Ah, nostalgia.

Oh yes! I remember in high school the pepsi vending guy would have to
visit twice as often because there was never enough in the machines. I
loved it.

And Pepsi Blue was good too. I've heard some rumors that Pepsi is test
marketing a Mt. Dew Blue in certain areas.

I would so love to see Crystal Pepsi again. I know my hubby would like
it. He's a big fan of clear sodas.

I'm in on this one. And bring back Pepsi Blue while you're at it. I
just don't enjoy Pepsi unless it's a different color other than brown.

Also bring back Pepsi Blue and Pepsi Free, and make Spiced Pepsi
available year round.

kids about Crystal Pepsi over the weekend!

This shows how quickly time passes. When I hear retro,
I think '70s. Yikes.
