Pfizer, Travel Sized Bottles of Plax Rinse Should Be Smaller

Posted Wed May 16, 2007 12:00 pm, by Mike P. written to Pfizer Inc

Write a Letter to this Company

I would like to make a suggestion regarding one of your travel size products that I recently bought for a weekend trip.

Generally I like to use some kind of rinse for my mouth and so I've used much to my delight your product, Mint flavored Plax. When I recently was getting ready to make a weekend trip, I found Plax in a 4 oz bottle travel-sized. So I went ahead and bought it.

Anyway, when I got to the airport and had my luggage scanned in, the security guard warned me that the Plax bottle was 4 oz (since I had it with my carry-ons and I did not check anything in) and the most one can take with them on the plane is a 3 oz bottle. I was able to take it with me, however.

Here is what I am suggesting...take the travel sized Plax and reduce it to three ounces or less. I'm not going to stop buying the product as it has been very useful to me, but I may thnk twice before purchasing it for a future vacation.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I hope that you will take this into consideration for your future products.

Mike, you make an excellent suggestion. I think companies should be
made aware of travel restrictions. I do know, also, they take away any
unlabeled bottles...so if one was to put three ounces in...they have
the right to confiscate it if anything looks suspicious. I was even
thinking, while reading the letter, if it would be possible for them
to somehow make the product in a powder form...but maybe it's not
possible because of active ingredients and stability, quality control,
etc.
I especially like that it's in the form of a suggestion more than a
complaint. Great Letter!!!

why they restrict it to 3 oz?

I mean, is there some specific reason behind it or is this just
another one of the FAA's nit-picky rules?

But your letter is great, Mike and I hope that given the current
travel standards that are being enforced they can accomodate this!

I know there will be many travellers happy you brought this up!

Great idea. You'd think that the companies would move to make travel
sizes of all liquid/gel products in security-compliant sizes.

That's a great suggestion.

Good letter!
