Malware on your website, Photobucket.com

Posted Sun July 15, 2012 10:25 am, by Jo H. written to photobucket.com

I was at your website, Photobucket.com yesterday, deleting some old photos, and I somehow picked up a malware program, "Live Security Platinum."

I have heard rumors of things like this associated with Photobucket before but this is the first time it happened to me.

It took me several hours to get rid of the malware off my computer. Very annoying.

I do not plan on ever using Photobucket again.

Keep the site safe for people to use without worrying that their computer will be infected.

How do you know it specifically came from that site?

IIRC "Live Security Platinum" virus comes through on Adobe loopholes.
And I don't see any flash on photobucket's website.

(I should know because I refuse to install adobe on my computer)

Yep. The scripts are on a delayed timer and exploit the fact that most computers are set to trust all adobe files by PepperElf Wed July 18, 2012 @ 3:52 PM

You can pick up Malware from any website. Do you have an up to date
antivirus/anti-malware software on your computer? Do you use firewall
software? While no software protection is perfect, it will greatly
reduce the chances of malware getting on your computer. I would not
stop using Photobucket just because you picked up malware once.
