Pizza Hut makes a mistake and I get accused of SCAMMING

I had some friends over to my place for we decided to get some pizza. So I called my neighborhood Pizza Hut, the same one that we have ordered from for the last seven odd years. As usual, the person on the phone started by asking if this was for delivery or carry out and when I said "delivery" he asked for my phone number. Upon giving the same to him, he immediately asked if my last name was "ABC". They probably have that on record and I confirmed that it was correct. He then asked if my address was "XYZ" and I confirmed that it was.
So I place my order and he says that it should be there within 30/45 minutes. About an hour later, I was wondering why the pizza had still not arrived and just then the phone rang. I could not identify the number on the caller ID, but answered it thinking that maybe the delivery guy was lost and looking for directions. I was totally surprised when an unknown voice on the other side asked me if I had sent the pizza's for them. I said no and I had not and asked him the reason for the question and how he got my number. His answer was that a pizza delivery guy was standing at his door asking for money. He got the number from the order slip but the address was his.
I asked him what his address was and realized that it was clearly on the opposite side from where I live. In retrospect, the pizzas had reached about maybe two miles east of the Pizza Hut that I had ordered from and we stay about 2 miles west of that Pizza Hut. I thanked the gentleman for calling for and requested that he put the delivery guy on the phone. I confirmed the order and told him that he had the wrong address and asked how that happened. The delivery guy said that all he does is pick up the pizza and the slips and delivers as per the address on the slip and that I should call back at the store to check what happened.
I gave him the right address and he said that he was coming right over. I call the store and ask for the manager and when he came on the phone, I explained what happened to him and asked him to check the order and the address. He comes back on the line and tells me that the address is the one where the pizzas were incorrectly sent too and that I did that on purpose just to scam them and get a free pizza. I was totally shocked at what I heard. I tried to tell him that the person taking the order did confirm my name and my address and also mentioned that we use the same store regularly and if they checked their records, they will definitely find my name and address but to no avail. I also told him that I did not ask for a discount or a freebie and he is being impolite by accusing me as a "scam artist" and he said "Yeah yeah sure, I know your types".
That really p***ed me off but I decided not to waste any further time with him since there obviously seemed to be no point and hung up. I did however go to Pizza Hut online and register my complain providing the details of the store and the name of the manager (hence not included here).
I sincerely feel that some sensitivity an customer handling training is due and hope that Pizza Hut will address this issue.

That Manager was out of line for his treatment of a customer. The delivery driver was also out of line but letting the person at the wrong house call you. Even if the driver dialed the number it was in the phones memory most likly. Pizza hut needs to address this. The driver needs to carry a cell and use it or ask the person to call the store then the store can call you. Just my thoughts. JA

What a mess! I hope you hear back from the company and they do something to make this up to you. That was really rude of them.

Ever notice how it's usually the legitimate complaints (like this one) that don't ask for freebies? LOL - kudos to you for that... I actually feel you're entitled to something both for the inconvenience caused to you by the late pizza and the manager's rudeness. Good letter, I hope you get some satisfaction.

You have a very valid complaint! I just wish you had put in more details (store number, manager's name, etc).
The same has happened here..twice! I wait and wait.and my pizza ended up 2 blocks from here. Same house number..way different street name. The two names don't even rhyme!! For whatever reason, it has happened! However, the manager has always made it right, for me...so far! (not Pizza Hut, other "huts")
I hope you get some type of resolution!
Good Luck to you!

Sounds like this guy didn't bother to check what had happened and jumped to the first conclusion. I'd be annoyed too. I hope you did get your pizza in the end though.

I agree that the store probably has some type of "if the pizza gets cold/doesn't arrive within half an hour/etc. it's free!" deal, and chances are people have abused that policy in order to get free pizza before. I know you weren't trying to scam them, but unfortunately this is very likely another case where dishonest people ruin things for everybody. The manager was quick to judge you, though, and I hope you are able to straighten everything out.

He knows that you were not scamming him, he only said that because he wanted you to pay for the pizza. They probably have a policy that says that if the pizza arrives cold, or if the pizza arrives after a certain period of time than it is free. He probably said this to prevent you from asking for it free so that you look bad, and so that he does not have to admit his mistake. He is the one that is kind of scamming you.

I don't blame you for being mad. The manager didn't cut you any slack at all. He couldn't even eat crow at the appropriate time.
It just sounded to me like you wanted to get the address in the computer straightened out. Sounds like the manager was having a bad night.
I hope they DO send you freebies now. And explain to the manager that sometimes, a customer is calling to complain in a civil, "Just thought you'd like to know" manner.
Good luck!

You already complained on the PH website - what are you doing here as well?
There is, you know, such a thing as overkill.
